Hmmmmm........barley (it has a really tasty, nutty flavour when cooked like this) and porcini risotto.....along with lamb that has been glazed with a bourbon/blackberry reduction sauce.... And of course....a good, chewy red wine.....Maybe a Zinfandel or a Shiraz.....

Cheese pizza & beer.
If I asked, would you answer? Its your problem. Its a deep, deep problem. I have no way to ask about that... I have no elegant way of stepping into your heart without tracking in filth. So I will wait. Someday, when you want to tell me, tell me then. -Bleach
Ooooooooh, I had my very first pizza today (con'sarn those darntootin' allergies
), and it was divine.
Soy sauce tastes great on pasta, IMHO. Toast with lime marmalade is great. I also adore raspberry icecream, with a large spoon and plenty of time

Hmmmm ... German beer and - german beer! No?
Well ...
Maybe German beer and wiener schnitzel.
German beer and hasenpfeffer.
German beer and roast duck.
Well, you get the idea.

Well my mother is quite a Mexican cook because she was born and raised in Panama, so one of her spanish meals are always good-like spanish rice and beans or spanish chicken rice are VERY good. Her home made chili is real good too.
And Mountain Dew or Pepsi is good alongside. I would probably like alcoholic drinks more, but Im a lawful citizen and am underage of drinking. I have had some alcohol before on special occasions, but Ill stick with soda for now.

Ah, but I like a burning tongue. Spicy food is great. My mom also makes home-made tobasco sauce with peppers and what not. Now that stuff is SPICY!Originally posted by Mr Flibble
@Tyb, you drink MD and Pepsi with chili? You're brave.
Try curry and coke. That's 'fun' (read=painful)

@Chanak.....I think I may have to rename this thread to "masochist's anonymous," since reading some of those combinations is making me ravenously hungry....thus reading about them is pure torture
Hmmm...I'm noticing a theme here...it would appear that beer and wine go well with many different things

@Beldin: My question exactly, LOL! You asked it in style, as usual.
@DW: Yummy...now I want to take a vacation and go bumming around the vinyards in California...you know, wine tasting.

Hmm...Now I want to try some new combinations
I myself am a pasta person, any type of pasta, but I like my own sauces the best (then you know what went in them).
Previously I would have said:
-Mushrooms and cream tossed with angel hair pasta and Merlot
-Fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken and broccoli cooked in garlic sauce and...Merlot
-Veggie lasagna and Merlot
-Pre-made ravioli/sauce and 'Red Table Wine' if you don't have the time/money to do anything better: D
But, lately my happy wine and pasta nights have been put on a hold. First, this whole getting-married-must-save-for-a-dress thing, and next my sister has convinced me that I am going to get fat if I continue eating the way I do. Apparently eating whatever you want whenever you want is a bad thing? I wouldn't listen to her if I hadn't jumped up on the scale right then and there and realized I have gained five pounds!! Granted, I was wearing jeans and tennies at the time and usually I weigh myself in the nude, but still that was enough for me.
So, here I am, ready to enter 'the zone'. Granted, I'm not very sure if I like the idea of entering any zone that she and her insane body-building boyfriend cavort in, but heck, I'll give it a try. (They flex and pat each others arm muscles all the time, I think it's some sort of mating ritual. I don't understand it as once you've felt your sisters arm muscles, there's no real thrill in going back there.) The first thing I learned was that pasta was very, very bad for you.
How can this be? My favorite food is pasta, then wine, then cheese, then strawberries.
So, I've been trying to change my food. My idea was to cook a nice chicken breast on a Teflon pan and toss it with steamed broccoli. Of course, the fear of a tasteless chicken breast caused me to pat on a few 'helpers', you know rubbing in garlic, Italian herbs *cough* Parmesan cheese. Then I decided olive oil would make it better and I knew a certain amount of olive oil was allowed on the zone. But, alas, the little devil in my head assured me that my sister would never know if I put a pat of butter on the chicken to turn it that nice golden brown, so away I went and things were downhill from there.
I will say it was a delicious meal, didn't even miss the pasta, but then I had some nice toasted garlic bread to make up for that.
My sister also says it's the most delicious chicken she's had for a long time, but to that I say "if you cook your chicken with little japanese fish sprinkles it will taste like fish, stop doing that, it's insane, and stop trying to make your own tofu!!".
*shakes herself*
Oops, where was I?
Anyway, we'll see how this 'zone' thing works out
Sorry for the long babbling.

lol! @Viv
Well...I figure it is all about balance and moderation...... You see one night I might eat something like one of the rich pasta meals you've described, the next I might eat a vegan chilli...
Actually if you are interested I posted the recipe for quite a tasty one in the "recipe swap" thread.... I checked last night and it has not yet been eliminated by the deities of SYM
Of course..you might want to hold on the sour cream and accompanying tortilla chips....erm..and the bottle of dark beer...but other than that it is pretty low cal.....
@Chanak...lol....beer...beer....beer...and beer

I find garlic bread dipped in milk to be tasty every once in a while. Ketchup on mac 'n cheese (nobody I know likes that! Why?) is also nice.

A great meal for all occasions.
BBQ'd Steak (trip tip, flank, etc)
Baked Potato staked generously with/without cheese butter garlic salt sourcream etc.
Baked Beans slopped onto your plate without hesitation.
A Case of Coors light.
And a monday night football game.
Mmmm Tonights gonna taste good.
p.s. (Tri tip tonight with some a-1 sauce... good stuff)
((I'll post tommorow when I go to my grandma's for some good old Anne Torono Sicilian Cookin... ehh mmmmmm hmmmm))

I also like this. I know some other people who do, too.
In fact, they were the ones who introduced me to it.
