Ambrosiacal combinations

Post by dragon wench »

As I write this post I have on my desk a small cup of freshly brewed espresso and a slab of Belgian dark chocolate containing tiny, delectable segments of orange. Even though I consume very little sugar, this, in my mind, is the sort of combination that can cause a state of near ecstasy.....

There are other marriages of food and/or beverages that also just seem meant for one another....like vine-ripened tomatoes and fresh basil..... or a particularly lush pinot noir (a type of red wine) alongside an aged Asiago cheese.....

Given the varied tastes of my fellow symers I thought I'd dedicate this thread to an appreciation of food and favourite beverages.....So which other such combinations cause near-swooning attacks amongst you all? ;)

I've checked. There is no chocolate in the house. My pantry only contains a can of green beans and some Spaghettios.

Now I have to get dressed and drive to the store for some chocolate. And I just brushed my teeth!

First of all, I would assume...

...that this is a "spam at the minimum" thread?

Regardless, I don't spam anyway :p ...

... so here goes...

Red Bull Energy Drink + Thai Whiskey.

Yellow (ripe) mangoes and rice. :)

...I LOVE sweet ripe mangoes, even the ice cream mango flavor. :)

However, back home when a woman has this sudden craving for green (sour) mangoes (with dried small shrimps and salt), they are said to be infanticipating ;) :D

...but for most of those 9 months I wasn't with my wife to cater to her needs. :(

My wife loved chocolates and green mangoes... at the same time. :D At least, such combo is easy to procure... not unless it is off season for mangoes.

EDIT- Congrats, btw, on the 3K. ;)

My favourite food is Italian with a gorgeous tomato sauce, basil flavoured and succulent bacon, a red wine (a 17 year old? Wow... :D ) makes the difference. Lea and Perrins sauce is delicious in it.

I also enjoy Fish and Chips. :D

Ummm...*big smile* This is a lovely thread indeed!

I must also say that cod and chips is a classic, but not so good as to induce said near-ecstatic state...so what about

Stilton, Pickled Walnuts and Port?

@Nips, ooh...Pasta, Bacon, Sour Cream and Chillies! Excellent!

but my very favourite would have to be: real grandma-panned Irish potato bread and duck liver pate! He he...heaven! :D :D :)

@Nippy and Frogus....you are both making me hungry :) Considering I usually need help kickstarting my appetite in the mornings, this thread is providing previously unconsidered benefits.
;)

Hmmm....does fish and chips serve to transport one into a near ecstatic state? Well....if served with the right beer it can certainly come near.... :D

@ Frogus, a no to the sour cream and chilies but I agree. Pasta is a wonderful meal and it is a really simple easy dish to make, and it's good for sharing too. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Cod and chips are awesome, simple and greasy but truly British and like DW says, fantastic with the right lager.

I also love cottage pie or it's other name sheperd's pie. I would actually eat that rather than going out sometimes. I love home-cooked. You know that it's to your tastes that way.

Indian, oh my life do I love curry. A dish of curry can be orgasmic, it's an old favourite of mine (I eat relatively hot curries now) but I love the mild Tikka Ma(u?)ssala. Creamy and sweet with delectable chicken that almost melts in the mouth. It really is some of the most fantastically flavoured foods around.

I love Chinese too. Sweet and Sour with crispy chicken, a wonderful serving of Ginger chicken (spicy and a little bit of sweet in it) along with boiled rice, fresh prawn crackers.

When I see a lot of my friends scarf McDonald's and refuse to go get a sandwich or something fresh it really does make me ill. I have such a varied and wonderful diet every week, I try to take in as much as possible...

I also love Pasta(spaghetti) and bolagnaise, yum yum yum.

Nipples and Pinot Noir.
Come not between the Witch King and his prey, or he will not slay thee in thy turn, but will bear thee away to the houses of lamentation, beyond all darkness, where thy flesh shall be devoured, and thy shrivelled mind be left naked to the lidless Eye.
