I've read almost all of them, and my personal favourite is definitely Vimes

But I love the rest too, especially the whole watch.

The Color of Magic read like four contiguous short-stories, which I didn't appreciate, but I understand that this is how many writers start out. I quite liked Equal Rites since it called into question the patrifocal Wizard's society....

After a while the humour can become a little tiring.

My feeling exactly. I really enjoyed say the first ten or so books, but after that it all started to blend together and seem a little as if he was rehashing old material.

I just finished Colour of Magic, i really enjoyed it. The set pieces are really amusing and Pratchett's wit is evident.

So...what is the next in the series?

Is CoM the one in which Rincewind meets Twoflower, if so then Light Fantastic is a follow on with the two characters. After that Pratchett introduces you to the other twisted characters of the Discworld in the other novels.

Whats the one called in which the wizards accidently created Earth. Pratchett collaborated it with a scientific author. There are two books in that series, and I think it just came out too.

Just need the names...

I don't doubt it for a second, he manages to convey his ideology fairly well. I found his writing entertaining and amusing, there are very few books and films which i really rate as deep, mostly i just end up concluding the producers are egotistical or pretentous, very few break through mediocrity to become anything over average. Pratchett (from the one novel of his i have read) seems to be quite impressive, not quite a mythical figure but better than most who attempt such things

Lastly...to everyone who tries to compare him to Douglas Adams..or thinks he boring...no way..not even in same ballpark.....only so much as parody is concerned. And if you think it is boring...sorry but you missed the point. Read him later perhaps in your life.

I would say that on a comedic level they are similar, their wits were probably equal, however Adams wasn't half as prolific.
