I have one hell of a temper when I am finally roused - though my fuse seems a lot shorter since last september :( . And as you can see from the photos, I am a skinny git. :D

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

I consider myself to have a "rolling boil" temper as opposed to a "firecracker" because it takes me a while to get hot, but once I get there, it doesn't stop for a long, long time.
I am your opposite here, I am very easily excitable in all respects - I get happy, enthusiastic and deeply engaged in things easily, and I also get angry and irritated easily. This kind of basic, general tendency for how much stimuli is needed to elicit a certain emotional response in a person, is a typical example of a "temperament factor" or "personality trait". Btw, note that when I say those things are largely influenced by our genetic constitution, I mean genetics have an impact on about 50% on basic traits. You may think 50% is not a lot, since it means the other half of our temperament system is governed by learning, but 50% genetic influence is a lot compared to many other things in humans. Only about 1% of human functioning is believed to be genetically predisposed.

If somebody is interested in this stuff, I will be able to update you with the latest research in 2 weeks, because then I'll attend a conference in Behavioural genetics :D

Believe it??? I know it. I will not deny my temper is to the extreme. Denying the problem will not fix it. I take full responsiblity for my temper and when the day comes when I take the walk down BANNED land, I will not ask to be reinstated.

A friend told me that a fascination with chilli also could lead into this "short fused" problem. :rolleyes:
