I thought it was one of the low points of the series. Anyway, he punched M AKA Robert Brown, when the latter wanted to arrest or fire him (I don't remember which).
I never really thought of Brown as M. Bernard Lee was the only good one, but he died in 1981, right after Moonraker.
Out of the Dalton films, I thought that 'The Living Daylights' was a pretty good one! it had decent actors:Jeroen Krabbé (Dr. Nichols in 'The Fugitive') as the bad guy, plus John Rhys Davies as a Russian General.
