It was time well spent and time wasted, all at the same time. ;) :D

I haven't played so many computer games, so 5 games will probably be about half or 1/3 of all games I've ever played :D

1. BG series - very well spent time :)

2. The old SSI Gold box games, Pool of radiance series - very well spent time, I loved those games, I still think there were better than most modern CRPG:s

3. Diablo II, LoD - very well spent time, Diablo is my best anti-intellectual brain-rester :D

4. Planescape - very well spent time, best game I've ever played

5. Probably a draw between Icewind dale, Simcity 2000 and Warcraft - nice games all of them, I never played these games in long sessions, so it took me ages to finish IWD. Still well spent time :)

1) BG series - obviously ;)

2) Monkey Island - I don't have any for the PC, but I played the first two on my Mac ages ago, liked them lots.

3) Zelda: A Link to the Past on the SNES - I guess I must have spent quite a lot of time playing SNES games, but this is the one that jumps to my mind. Spent quite a long time puzzling it out.

Those are about the only ones I've spent a significant amount of time playing, I think. I play some FPS from time to time, but mostly at LANs, and not often. (@Robhin UT rules over Q3A :p )

And of course there's Tetris and Minesweeper... :o

I wouldn't say they were a waste of time; at least, no more than any other leisure pursuit :)

Yes you are right, I had forgotten, well I had chosen to forget about those - I used to play them while chatting with friends by the phone :o

Same here, I play them when I'm sitting at my computer trying to write an essay, when I'm thinking about what to write next... :D

@Vivien; your favourite games are not necessarily those you've spent most time playing (althought in many cases it is :) )

@Mr. Sleep & Rob-hin; have to agree with both of you, Thief games were really great, good atmosphere and sneaking is really whole lot of more exciting than running down the halls slaughtering *everyone*. But zombie levels were awful, they nearly ruined the game :( Glad they weren't in Thief 2... Has anyone heard when Thief 3 should be out?

You may not have played great number of games, but you compensate lack in quantity in the sheer quality of those you've played.

My top 5 are:

1) ELITE on C64/C128 (my first 'puter :) ) . I loved it, still love it, will always love it. Time weeeeeeeeeelll  spent.

2) BG1/2/TOB: Well worth it. Never played such an immersive (sp ?) game.
(Otherwise I wouldn't be here :D )

3) Mechwarrior 3 & 4. Storyline a little to linear, otherwise great game.

4) Soldier of Fortune (the "blood and gore" edition - I've hear that there was a toned down version also, but I've never seen it.)
I liked it for the stress release factor - just to make things go *SPLAT* helped me NOT to kill someone in my "real" life....(As if I had one ;) .)

5)Does anybody here remember C64 "Summergames" and "Wintergames" ? I liked Summergames until my Joysticks gave out one after the other. Wintergames was not SO great, but I remember my time with both games fondly. ;)

1) BG1/TotSC - I dare even go so far as to say that it changed my life to the better. Have played over 1000 hours during one and a half year. Time well spent over all. However, I deeply regret letting my relationsships suffer from my obession.

2) BG2/ToB - Fantastic, but I still wish they had kept the original NPCs or at the very least not killed off half of them. Time well spent (I now control my gaming, more or less).

3) Heroes of Might and Magic 1 - What a game! (Number 2 and 3 are great, too.) Played it day and night when I should have studied instead. Time well spent.

4) Bard's Tale 1 (C64) - My first experience of RPG. I'll never forget having played at least five hours without being able to save (down in dungeon), then having the power shut down because a hairdryer was about to get plugged in... Time well spent (but I never managed to finish the game).

5) Zelda - Ocarina of time (N64) - So melancolic and so very beautiful! Time well spent (although it gave me a hard time with one of my exams).

1) Baldur's Gate series: well spent
2) Starcraft: well spent
3) WarcraftII: well spent
4) Myst + Riven (will play Exile after finishing ToB with my own MP party: well spent, though Riven could be extremely frustrating at times, because the game is tough to beat (but don't get me wrong, still a great game)
5) SIM City 2000: well spent (very addictive at times)

Thought I'd exand upon what I wrote

1. BG series (duh) --time well spent, the best of the lot being BG2
2. IWD, Planescape --took a while to enjoy IWD for what it was (hack n slash), loved Planescape for its imaginative characters and setting. Not real good replay value for either for me at least.
3. Age of Empires series --first games I really got into, they are just excellent. I've played all the single-player though, and don't like the multiplayer experience--too many power gamers who wipe me out in 30 seconds and tell me I suck. Not willing to devote my life to figuring out how to wipe people out in 30 seconds.
4. Fallout 1 & 2 --These are really great games. Best opening movies, really different and interesting characters --only missing thing is not much interaction between NPC's. Replayable. If you are sitting around bored waiting for the next good CRPG to come out and have not played them yet, by all means do so.
5. Starcraft & Earth 2150 --two other cool RTS games, esp. Starcraft. Still haven't played Brood War yet.

Runners Up:
Sims
Deus Ex
Arcanum
Longest Journey
Grim Fandango

Many ppl here seem to have spent most time playing surprisingly same games... Besides BG of course, many list other Infinity engine games (IWD, Torment), Age of Empires, Fallout(s), Civ, Sims, Star/Warcraft and a couple of Elites too.

It seems to me that all of you are the same person posting this forum under different aliases! Ahha, gotcha! You are busted, buster! Reveal thyself and show me your true identity! So it was only you and I posting @this board! But wait... I too answered the same answeres... I'm I the same person also? Been posting this board all alone, stupid me! What am I, a schizophrenic?!?!?

Yeah, they were real joystick killers. And that time joysticks were digital ones (they were on-off only) that made 'click' each time you moved the stick. Playing summergames sounded like "clik-clik-clik-clik-clik-clik-clik...." :D

Did you play Daley Thompson's Decathlon? You remember the easter egg in javelin?!?

Of course I played Decathlon - it was even more of a Joystick-Killer than summergames.... ;)

But I can't remember the goodies in it the games (there were a few I think. *drifts of into pleasant memories*
