I guess I should had more clear. Looking back at my childhood, I didn't get much, my mother bless her heart tried. Raising two kids without the support of a husband is not easy.

To the point though, I find myself trying to make sure my kid gets a least a decent Christmas. Maybe my views are shaped by the events of my life.

Since I don't have any kids, I usually buy a few CD:s, books, clothes etc for family and friends, then I buy myself the gift of a 2-4 week trip to some country where they don't celebrate Christmas :D :D Last year, the husband and I went to the Atlas moutains in Morroco and was happily riding away at the back of a dromedar in Sahara instead of trying to surivie the commercial hysteria here :) Hail to non-christian countries :D ;)

Whose aren't, @Weasel. I see your point: complete concurrence. :)

Isn't it suppose to be the thought behind the gift...not what the gift is?

Can't say I generally received more than that when I was growing up. We weren't exceptionally well-off.

Ever heard of Neverwinter Nights? Morrowind looks good. :D :D

I'd like a PC, I'd put money towards it. I'd also like a few CD's and books (I get them myselves but normally I enjoy seeing my little sisters face light up when she sees the presents under the tree, christmas mad! :)

It probably will not mean the same, but there is always a spare seat at our Christmas dinner just in case ;) :D
