But I don't think anyone here has their own Behind the Music, or their own action figure, or their own "semi-autobiographical movie" (Cool as Ice, MCA, 1991). Yeah, Vanilla Ice may be a joke, but he made a lot of money, sold a lot of albums, and is a lot more famous than I am.</STRONG>
And he was referenced in Austin Powers

But ummm, didn't he get overwhelmed by his fame and become a junkie?

He has action figures? :D

Oh come on Sleepy, I bet you loved Ice Ice Baby in 1990 or whenever it was... :p :D

Random Vanilla Ice trivia: he played himself in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze :D LOL :D

As horrifying as it sounds, Vanilla Ice did have his own action figure. Go here to check him out (among others).

I don't think he ever tanked so badly that he had to go to rehab or anything, and I don't think he ever got into hard drugs, but he did fall off the face of the earth for a while. On Behind the Music I think they said he got into motocross and speedboat racing.

LOL :D That is disturbing...

Hmmm. I could've sworn I saw him interviewed on some 1990s nostalgia show or something a while ago and they said he did get into hard drugs... but I could be remembering wrong, after all I wasn't paying that much attention... ;)

Actually just a guess, I know it was around that time... :o :p

So did I :o But it's a curse, if I hear anything on the radio enough, I remember the words... no matter how abysmal it is :D Fortunately the only part I can now recall is "If there's a problem, yo, I'll solve it
Check out the hook while my DJ revolves it" :D

I remember the year because I was in high school pre-calculus when one of the girls sitting in front of me was talking to another friend and was telling us about this new song she liked, but the only words she could remember were "Ice ice, baby . . . ice, ice, baby . . ."

The weird thing about that line is, whenever i think of it i automatically think of the base line that followed it :) :)

That would be Queen . . . and they can thank Vanilla Ice not only for the nice coypwrite infringement settlement that they got, but for reviving Under Pressure with David Bowie.

Sorry to disappoint you guys again, but no, I am not Vanilla Ice; I don't even look like him. Yesterday, I was mistaken by our friend Aleldar for Goldar from the Space Giants on the You know you're getting old when . . . thread.

I just watch too much Behind the Music, much to the chagrin of my wife, who swears that I know the Weird Al and Queen espisodes word for word (which I don't, by the way).

Speaking of Behind the Music, as much as I love the show, does anyone else remember when VH-1 and MTV used to show videos? Or how about Rosie O'Donnell's start as a VJ on VH-1? Or the days when MTV had a total of ten videos and two of them were Duran Duran? Man, I miss those days.

Well, I guess I was mis-informed... I had no idea he was still living, let alone making music. I thought he was something like Elvis, you know more a myth than a fact.
Vicsun, I certainly agree with your assertion that you are an unpleasant person. ~Chanak

@Sleep: That "behind the music" of The Simpsons is classic - theres so many great lines in there, like when Richie Rich fills in for Bart, and when they move into MC Hammers house and bart finds the secret room full of parachute pants.

The funniest "Behind the Music" parody though was "Behind the Music: Rock and Roll Heaven" on Saturday Night Live, where Jim Morrison put together a supergroup with Jimi Hendrix, Janice Joplin, Keith Moon, Buddy Holly and Louis Armstrong, managed by Jesus Christ himself (Jesus: "when I first heard them I was like 'Oh...My...Dad'"). By the end of the skit they've all been reincarnated and you have a girlscout singing "The End" with a stockbroker, a sheep, a tree stump, and a sumo wrestler. That's about the funniest thing I've ever seen.
May you walk on warrrrm sannd....
