A few weird bugs, maybe, or glitches

Post by Sir Twist »

Ok, I was playing the game, with the unofficial 5.7 patch installed, with the plus added to it, and well, I had a funny thing happen. I restarted the game, after beating it before, playing a Malkavian. This time around, I picked Brujah. I thought something may have gone wrong. Ok, there are several problems that come up, one is that at some point I go to talk to Mercurio, after fixing him up, and getting the Astrolite, the game will boot me out of it. I go back in the game, and everything appears to be fine. That is, until after I raid the warehouse, and then blow it up, Mercurio disappears. I can't find him in his apartment or at the beach. Oh, and every time I talk to him, he's on the couch, and still looks like he's been beaten. Then, after I hop the cab to downtown, well, Fat Larry doesn't show up at his van. I tried patching up to 5.8 to see if there is any help there, but doesn't seem like it. Oh, I think this happens after I talk to Trip, and ask him if he sells weapons, without talking to Mercurio to call Trip for me. If that's the problem, well, I guess I need to restart the game, again.

What do you mean by "will boot me out of it"? Does the game crash?

You are probably looking at the wrong van. Larry has been moved into the alley near Confession because his dialogue fits better to that location.

Yeah, the game crashes. Also, when I go to look for Mercurio later, after the warehouse, I don't see him at the beach. I don't know if this is also a bug, glitch, etc. Unless he's moved, as well.

Ok, thanks, I don't think I read the readme file close enough, then. Thanks. I'll reread it, and see what's where, now.

Mercurio shows up on the beach (if you didn't tell LaCroix about his incident) after you accept the Elizabethan Rendezvous quest.

Crenshinibon, does this mean that he disappears after you complete the warehouse mission, and then reappears after you take the Elizabeth Dane mission?

I believe so. I have trouble remembering that part, but in any case, he does not count as a vendor until you accept that mission. If you told LaCroix about Mercurio's failure, then you do not see him again.

Well, I'm going to be a little more cautious in this play through. I know that eventually the game will crash when I talk to him, so, I'm going to make a save just before I talk to him, just in case.

On a side note to Wesp5, is Mercurio supposed to stay on the couch, with the 5.8 update, or is he supposed to get up and move about, eventually, after you use morphine? I thought that eventually he was supposed to get up and speak to you. I don't remember too well.

Mercurio remains on the couch. He actually gets up after accepting the aforementioned quest.

Also, if you don't tell LaCroix about his incident, upon going to the Santa Monica beach to get on the boat, you'll be automatically forced into diallog with Mercurio.

Thanks for that. I'm still going to be cautious on saving before talking to him.

I came across another glitch, and maybe two, or maybe just a bug, or a problem. Ok, I am using the 5.8 patch, now. For some reason, I couldn't, fully, get rid of Milligan, unless I kill him myself. Second, the picture part of the posters mission isn't working right, either. I have the picture I need, but it won't disappear. Is there something I'm not doing right, or could there be a problem with the game?

The problem with Milligan is known and has already fixed for 5.9, to continue your game type "camera_kill" into the console. As for the new posters, these will only work correctly if you started a new game with 5.8, did you?

I did start a whole new game, but when I put the one picture in there with the Nosferatu, then leave and come back, it's still there. And that is where I got stuck on that. Anyway, I am going to start a new game, and see what happens.

Strange. That poster quest is very old and hasn't been touched by me in the last patches if I recall correctly.

The poster quest has been added to. I think I may have had a minor problem with the quest, but I'm going to start a whole new game, and see what's going on.

It all works fine until i make it to the police report which dissapears every time i get close to it and doesnt come back so im unable to finish the mission. trying restarting the game making a new game etc and still does the same thing. this is the first real bad bug ive had in the game so far is there any way to fix it? i wouldnt mind if it was a side quest but this kind means i cant progress in the story at all now. some help would be really nice thanks :)

I've never heard that before. Try giving the report to yourself via the console: give item_g_edane_print_report
