A problem with the "Explosive Beginning" quest

Post by TsumetaiRyu »

I've downloaded all the patches, but I still seem to be having problems. Right now I'm trying to talk to Bertram Tung to go to the warehouse, but every time I tell him I'm ready to go, the game glitches out and shuts down one me. I've tried reinstalling the patches to see if it would help, but it didn't. I've finished up almost every other quest I can do up until this point, and now I'm stuck! Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks!

Have you listened to any sound files of the game with the Windows Media player?

How would listening to the sound files help?

It wouldn't. ;-) On the contrary, actually - if you've listened to any of the soundfiles using windows media player, the game will crash whenever said soundfile is required.
Other than that, I don't have any idea either - never heard of a regular crash in this part of the game, it's one of the more stable areas (bar the whole thin blood business).

The question remains, though - Does insight remove sanity, or will insight be given to the mad?"

Oh noes, you're kidding! I must reinstall the game I guess =/ Is there some way I could keep my save files? I went to the SAVE folder but there was nothing in it.

But I want to make the point that I DO have files in game. Like, when I open the game there are save files to load. But when I try looking into the SAVE folder, it's empty. And yes, I have hidden files on.

Ok! Nvm, I did a full computer search and found them in some crazy place. Thanks for your help Shizz!

Alright, I'm posting this so if anyone else has the same problem, they have a follow up. If, while in a conversation, the game glitches out on you, go to your options and edit your keyboard buttons. I guess there's a glitch in the game where having anything with 'MOUSE1' or 'MOUSE2' flips out the game. Simple go there, and edit the USE command to something on the keyboard. Go back and talk to the person. After the end of the convo, or after you get warped, simply switch it back to it's former command.

You don't actually have to reinstall. Why WMP locks the files, I have no idea, but it does it in the "Playlists" section. If you go the playlists in WMP, and remove all of the VTMB sound files from it, all will be well.
