Sorry I took so long to reply - I'm a slow reader.

The game is AFRAID of you, that's why. AFRAID of the mighty Skuld .

As soon as I get a replacement computer, I'm going after the game myself - Paladin/Monk solo (as suggested by Skuld many months ago). I expect that victory will be much more ...
Jaheira, who already had been moaning about ' not liking the direction ... perhaps better leadership is in order' then said 'you are much like Gorion, but without the wisdom'. You b&&ch!!! Remind me why I rescued her from the Harper's Hold and fell in love with her in BG2?!?!

Unless I'm playing with a Paladin (who has Carsomyr), I find the magic-removal spells to be useful, especially Pierce Magic . I also make good use of Lower Resistance and Greater Malison and Doom and Horror . But the spell that I use the most is Magic Missile .

The cleric spells I use the most are ...

I "cheated" when fighting the Red Dragon in the Windspear Hills . I had my bounty hunter set all the traps she could, while the dragon just watched in its non-hostile way. Once my pre-buffed party attacked, the traps went off and caused lots of damage. It was just a matter of time after that.

I ...

I've got to go with the Mind Flayers, who can't open a door when I send a Cloudkill into the room with them and then close the door. They just stand around and die.

I'm a goody-two-shoes (High School teacher in real life), so I always play a Good character. My PCs believe in a lawful, ordered society, but don't like Monarchy, so they don't go with Lawful or Chaotic.

Neutral Good!!!

That way, I can be nice to Viconia.

Great topic!!

My own personal preferences to follow:

I seldom use Anomen , even if he does become a rather useful cleric to use in my standard goody-goody game. I just can't stand his vocalizations. I tend to go with Viconia for my cleric, which typically causes problems when/if I pick up Keldorn ...

When I finished the game with two characters, I started out with a Paladin and a Barbarian. The Paladin eventually had 16 levels in Paladin and 8 in both fighter and rogue -- he was the tank.

The Barbarian got 16 levels in Cleric, and went for 8 in both sorceror and cleric -- she was the ...

You'll also need the key you found in the chest by the wraith's body. You did keep that one, right? :)

Maybe not.

I seem to have changed my mind (for now) on the Paladin/Monk solo attempt.

You see, I've just discovered Baldur's Gate.

I'll talk to everyone (all six of you still reading the PoR:RoMD forum) in about four years.

Finished!

Well, Servando just beat Pelendrelaar. Holy thunder!!! He had bad dice rolls (lots of 2s and 1s), and still bequeathed a monstrous beating on the old, dead lizard. Servando got a few mouthfuls of fusty dragonbreath along the way. Fortunately, he survived. That was the most serious ...

Talk to Annorrweyn Evensong in her temple in Nightingale Court. She'll tell you what to do next. Your party can't actually teleport themselves back to his lair; they'll need to rely on her to do it for them.

In the early part of the game (the dwarven Halls), I like a combination of Skuld's Crude Handled Chunk of Oak +3 (double damage vs. everything) and the Brewmaster's Cudgel +1 (triple damage vs. undead). I use this combination for a long time. Another favorite in the early game is the +2 Great ...

I think you're talking about the Seal of Mythantor , which is found in the absolute Northwest section of the Halls of Light. Here is a walkthrough for that level. See room 44.

Maxed.

Servando has finished the elven catacombs, finding the Baelnorn, defeating Greyanna & Foluben, returning Anorrwen's skull and maxing out his levels. He is now Barbarian 5/Cleric 16/Sorceror 6/Rogue 5. He's got all of the skills and level benefits mentioned in the OP, and chose Haste as his ...

The decision has been made.

I've played a bunch more, and did decide to go with my original plan -- no fighter levels, instead raise Barbarian, Rogue and Sorceror to levels 5/5/6 respectively. And Servando is almost there. He has completed most of the first three catacomb dungeons (except for the ...

I have recently discovered that the Dreadsword does NOT negatively affect Wisdom by 3. The Demonclaws do, however.

Cruising

Servando has now cleared the Aboveground areas. It was easy. The game gets harder now, but Servando can adjust and be more careful again, like he was in the early game. Here are the crucial stats (with various spell and gear modifiers):

Experience: 156,000+
Barbarian 1/Cleric 15 ...

I don't know anything about a third part to Pool of Radiance , sorry. :( There was a part one many years ago -- it was great at the time, but does not compare to Ruins of Myth Drannor .

It is a stretch, but if you really want a cleric, Bronwyn in the second cellar (a L12 Ranger) has good wisdom ...

Thanks once again, Demis ! I found the fourth vial and got that Naga's Kiss right away! I can now wear Elena's Pewter Locket instead of the Onyx of Richest Wort or Onglore's Amulet of War. Which has the domino effect of making one ring finger available...

So, I've made a mistake. Servando drank ...
