Well, I never managed to finish BG1. I got bored half-way through it. The only reason I'm currently trying to finally do it is that I need the detailed background of the player character.

But anyways, back on topic. No, I don't wish that BG2 was more like BG1. I certainly could've done without TOB ...

Oookay, here is my theory on it. Anything that gets you past Deirex and to the gems *before* the cutscene will muck your quest up. I think the guys from BioWare actually didn't reckon with anyone killing the lich or getting past him before he can imprison your main character and simply failed to ...

Solaufein by Westley Weimer works cool with SoA, though you'll miss out one of his specific quests. If you know how to efficiently play a fighter/mage, Solaufein is about the most powerful character you can get.

There are some characters I simply can't kick out of my party, like Jaheira and Aerie. Jaheira because, frankly, her summoning skills at higher levels saved my hide more than once and Aerie because I feel bad about leaving a young thing in the middle of nowhere.

Nope, didn't help either. The Lich imprisoned me and the game was over. *shrugs* I think when I replay BG2 the next time, I'll do it without TDD installed.

Oops. Sorry *hides*. My bad. I hit the "post" button before I could insert that the spell is from The Darkest Day mod. But Sunray does the same, if you can cast it fast enough.

Nope, no cutscene. Only a very angry lich, who wasn't around for much longer. I guess it's caused by The Darkest Day, then, because I've played with Sola before and never had that problem (though no cutscene as well. hit the lich, got imprisoned, transported to Jarlaxle etc.).
