Torchlight II Interview

GameShark sat down with Runic Games' Max Schaefer and chatted up the CEO about their forthcoming Torchlight sequel. A little something from the four-page Q&A:
Are you're going to have new art assets for the game?

Yes 100 percent new art assets. We had three character classes in Torchlight and now we're going to replace those with four all new class. All the dungeons are new; all the outdoor areas are new. We revamped the interface.. so all of the art assets are completely new. We've kind of rearranged how the interface works so that it's going to be more moddable in our modding tools, so the modding community will be able to tweak the interface a lot more than they were able to the first time around as well. So completely new art assets all round.

...

Have you changed any of the other key elements like fishing?

We've evolved them. There will be more fishing options - more things you can find while fishing. Similarly the pets have evolved; you'll have more and varied pet that you'll be able to pick from. They'll work the same way - they'll have inventories and they'll sell you stuff in town - but we're toying with the idea of adding slight innate differences to the pet types; so one might be a little bit better of a fighter, one might a bigger inventory, etc. This gives them a little more individuality as well. So I would say that with the systems like fishing and pets, we're evolving them but not completely changing them.
