Demon's Souls Previews

GameSpot and IGN have both penned new TGS-based previews of Sony and From Software's recently revealed action RPG, Demon's Souls. A snip from GameSpot's article:
In a mediaeval world, you play as a lone hero standing against the forces of darkness in the kingdom of Bokitaria. The region's ruler, King Alant, was clearly meddling in forces he didn't understand in an attempt to keep his northern kingdom prosperous before the inevitable happened: All hell broke loose.

This took the form of waking "the old one" from his eternal slumber, which in turn led to a plague of demons across the land and a colourless fog enveloping the country. The intro movie explains that many have tried to enter the land but all have failed, save one. The intro movie and trailer that explain the backstory show massive creatures that we imagine you will be facing at some point. An enormous, roaring dinosaur-type creature with two sets of jaws, one inside the other, stood out as among the most impressive.

And a snip from IGN's article:
The main character was aptly referred to as nameless hero on the character selection screen. I was outfitted with a sword, a shield, and some seemingly very heavy armor. Besides blocking and striking I was able to perform a diving role that was handy for evasion. The Bridge leading up to the castle was guarded by poorly outfitted warriors that moved slowly and only stood up to a few swaths of my blade. The bridge was also covered with wooden carts, stands, and a few makeshift walls left over from a previous battle. The most impressive part of the experience was smashing these environmental items to bits. They break apart into many pieces which crumble to the ground realistically. Unfortunately the frame rate suffers whenever this occurs.
