Guild Wars Interview

IGN's Guild Wars Vault has gotten around to posting an interview they did with ArenaNet creature artist Katy Hargrove during this year's Penny Arcade Expo.
Although she's worked on a LOT of monsters, the favorite one she's made is the Skelk.

(I call it the Chupacabra because that's what it was designed as. One of the reasons it was my favorite beyond my joy concepting and modeling it, but the animator, Trevor Howell, did a perfect job animating it. He added to it, he took it on beyond even what I imagined doing, and it's a perfect little wimpy flashy monster, and it's a lot of fun to interact with and.um.kill.)

As far as the most challenging creature she's made, it's probably the Jade Armor.

(They're these broken statues and so I had to make the statue, and then I had to crumble it apart so that when it exploded it would actually break off into perfect pieces and those pieces would form the creature. I don't think it quite came across and came how all those fit together, but that was a huge pain in the butt.)
