Champions: Return to Arms Interview

IGN PS2 has conducted an interview with Snowblind Studios' Clint Worley, in which the assistant producer answers three pages of questions about Champions: Return to Arms. One of the questions and his answer to follow:
Q: All of the medal rounds have different challenges to them. What are some examples of these that are included in the game?

A: We have a treasure scramble where you're given a time limit and you've got to run around and break open a bunch of treasure chests within the time limit. There're a lot more treasure chests than you're able to get to within the time limit so we have some hidden rare weapons and items that are hidden in that level. So that adds some fun replayability to it.

We also have the Plane of Disease medal round. We have a game where you basically have some creatures that are chasing you around and you've got to step on a couple hundred frogs and it's really similar to Pac-Man where you have the ghosts chasing you and you're eating the pellets, but our twist is that you have creatures that are chasing you and if they catch you, you die instantly. But if you're able to step on all the frogs, then you're able to unlock some new attributes and some new levels.

We really tried to mix them up and we wanted them all to be unique and different. I'm sure that people are going to love some of them and people will get frustrated with other ones. But we wanted to try something new on each level. You're not required to play them, but if you do it'll unlock different game types and attributes. The game doesn't handicap you if you don't play them, but if you do it makes the single-player and online portion a lot more fun.
