Doomed, Dumbed Down, And Making Waves : GFrazier Responds

GFrazier responding to several posts today on Blizzard's official forums.

keyboard in his doomed post expressed concern that Blizzard may be forgetting their RTS roots. Here's a snippet of what he had to say...
Blizzard. You have seem to forgotten what made your games so fun. I mean common Blizzard! In all of your RTS games, what was the object? Huh? Tell me. It was to rule the land. It was for you to conquer and plunder the enemies town!

GFrazier: It's kind of funny that someone could call a game a let down without even playing it or knowing everything about it =) Screenshots don't tell the whole story. They don't even look as good as the game would in 3D.

studiorain caught by surprise by the way betawatcher.com worded their descript of WOW.

GFrazier: Well we hope our game will appeal to more general users because we are making it more fun and easier to use and understand. We do that with all our games.

mantronix pointed out a thread he found on the official Stars Wars Galaxies forums.

GFrazier: The reason the game isn't photorealistic is because that's not the look we're going for. Our line is why would you want to go into a world that looks like real life? People turn to games to escape real life. They want to enter a whole new world that is unlike their real one.

As far as Blizzard people posting in other developers forums, we don't go hype our games in other people's forums. =)

And about the movies, the combat isn't a accurate representation. You only have a second or two to show a fight so it's the killing blows and doesn't really show you what is going on.

What do you think? Discuss it on Gamebanshee's World of Warcraft forum.
