Interview & Preview of Dungeon Siege

For those who don't know, Chris Taylor, one of those who designed the much-ballyhoo'd hit Total Annihilation, has been working on an incredible looking tactical RPG named Dungeon Siege that's set for release this fall/winter. Ridersnewz put in some OT to bring us two nifty features for our glandular exercise today. First, in a Q & A session, they cover topics such as:

Q: How comprehensive will the instruction book be for Dungeon Siege? Or is an in-game tutorial being planned (with farm boy running around, attacking wood with his axe).

A: We are putting together a comprehensive and sizable manual. The first hour of the game is layed out to familiarize the player with the game, like a tutorial, but we don't call it a tutorial. We want players to jump in and start playing instantly!!

And don't forget the preview. Here's a small snarf:

Dungeon Siege has a great number of features that make the game unique. Such as the fact that the game is played through one gigantic continuous world that you explore seamlessly without loading screens. Yes, that means none of those annoying load screens that are standard with most RPGs, so the action is non-stop! The game’s simple learning curve makes Dungeon Siege enjoyable to everyone from the hardcore gamer to the newbies of the gaming world. The spectacular 3D graphics make your journey even more enjoyable and realistic.

This year looks every bit as promising for games as last... the MMORPG's coming out, other RPG's, genre splitting up the yin yang, et al.
