Origin, The Game

In about a year or sooner, whenever you hear the word Origin, it's not going to be the company that created Ultima that first comes to mind. It's most likely going to be a game - the highly awaited successor to Ultima Online named Ultima Worlds Online: Origin. All they know now is that it's supposed to come out in 2001. I learned that from reading the newly updated FAQ from the official site. But that is not all. Voodooextreme has a new user-submitted question interview with the Origin team and it goes a little something like this:
Q: How will UWO: Origin attract those customers who have spent so much time building characters in other games?

A: I think that we will offer them many things, including a much visually more attractive game world, ease of accessibility, stunning character customization and a much more intricate and engrossing combat system. But if I had to point to one thing, I would have to say the skill trees. Quite simply, there has never been a massively multiplayer game that allows your character to DO as much stuff as ORIGIN will let you do.

For what it’s worth, I think many gamers are genre players, and will buy most games that have a good buzz in their genre. I think most AC and EQ players will pick up ORIGIN to check it out. At that point, the players will choose to live in the place they think is the best place to live. My job is to be sure that’s us.
