Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Josh Sawyer Q&A, Rum Runner's Pack Free DLC Announced

Now that Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is released, Obsidian's Josh Sawyer and Caleb Diaz bring us an hour long Q&A session where they primarily discuss the studio's post-launch plans for the pirate-themed cRPG. The biggest thing they mention is the Rum Runner's Pack, an upcoming free DLC that sometime next week will expand the game's alcohol menu, add a drunk stance for your character and even a new sidekick.

And on the bug-fixing and fine-tuning side of things, the first patch for the game should go live towards the end of this week and address a decent number of immediate issues, including some memory leaks, faulty level scaling, and NPC dispositions. And then after that, Obsidian's patching efforts will be directed at further improving the disposition system, making the harder difficulty levels actually challenging and introducing additional unique challenges on top of that. There are also plans to add more neutral dialogue options, a way to see skill trees outside the level-up screen, and much more.

And after that's done, Josh, who directed the base game, will be taking a bit of a break from his managerial position and focusing on some other, yet unannounced, projects in a more limited capacity due to the accumulated stress of being a director for two years, which is extremely understandable.
