Raven's Cry Message in a Bottle #1

TopWare Interactive sent us over a press release this weekend announcing the availability of the first in a series of "Message in a Bottle" features, with this particular PDF entry including information on naval combat, the game's economy, the "hooking" combat mechanic, and more. To give you a better idea of what to expect from the feature and future such features, here's the overview that they sent us:

Today we're sending you the first (message in a bottle) on Raven's Cry, the upcoming adventure RPG from the creators of the Two Worlds series that will take you off to the dark world of 18th century piracy. Take on the role of Christopher Raven, a man haunted by bloody images of a childhood cut short, as he sets out on an uncompromising quest for revenge.

Dive into in a sweeping storyline 25 hours of gameplay that will forever change your image of the Caribbean and the world of pirates.

Each message in a bottle will provide you with background information and glimpses into the world of Raven's Cry and its development. We're going to start by letting Christopher speak for himself and give you a look at his captain's log for the first time ever. You'll also get an idea of the wide variety of gameplay options awaiting you in Raven's Cry.

What you'll find out in this first issue:
'¢ The first details on naval combat, steering ships, and repairing damage
'¢ How a tactical approach at sea can influence the outcome of sea battles independent of visibility conditions, what kind of shot you're using, or what your crew's experience or morale is like
'¢ Details on how the game's economy works and how to trade captured goods at port
'¢ More about the atmosphere in various towns
'¢ How important information and contacts are
'¢ The finer points of 'hooking' in the combat system
'¢ How Christopher's raven helps him

. and much more! In upcoming message bottles we plan to go into detail on individual characters, locations, and gameplay elements, as well as provide you with background stories, (making of) features, and exclusive interviews.

Take a look at the darkness behind the scenes of Raven's Cry . if you can handle it!
