Solstheim Cave of Hidden Music -- How?

I'm in the Cave of Hidden Music, in the chamber of Music and have struck the stalactites in the correct order, tried it twice, several times, "slept" in between tries, everything I could think of, but my journal entry will still not update. I've got the Xbox Game of the year edition. Have completed all the other stones and am stuck on this last one. HELP??!!

You do know that you have to complete the listening section 3 times or so and that it changes evrytime you complete it. Maybe you mistake is there. Also don't forget to press the "soundtubes" after the the sound has ended, not during. Confusing? It sure is

urggggg

I get the same four notes over and over...and over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do the visuals clue to the notes? Because the sound isn't the same although the steam coming out of the thing is. Is it possible that unknowingly I've done something that will prevent me from ever getting this right?

the stalactites make different sounds then the ones above them so the sound chould come from the top stalactite on the right but you might need to hit the bottom stalactite one the left.
