Twilight Zone on the Internet??

Post by Grojlach »

Ever heard of this???
Okay, we're in some kind of trouble at the message board I'm an admin of, the Elysium. There are two versions of it now! Whatever happened, no one knows for sure but it seems on the 7th of August a identical clone got split off from the main board, and now sometimes users end up in the original version and sometimes in the alternate universe! Eeriest thing of all is that the alternate version also has its own version of all the statistics, but those data is no where to be found on the ftp server! As if there's an identical server around on the Internet somewhere... And people can't just "break through" to the right version... How scary is that??
Anyone got some X-File theories? Some people are actually searching in the direction of having goaties or not which depend where you end up... :D (South Park joke in case you don't get it ;) )

Yups, even stranger, GuildRunner, the webmaster got himself stuck in the past version and upon checking the ftp server, he found indeed the information from the past version. After that, I checked the ftp server (with the same username and password, mind you) and saw the present information on the server... The IP-adresses weren't the same!

Hmm, it wasn't a hacker, it seemed the server decided to change the ip adress of the board but did a very crappy job in doing this fast... The two ip adresses existed next to one another for three days and so did two versions of our message board... :D
But it seems to be stablized now... I just re-fixed the acceptance of new members, so I'll hope the Twilight Zone didn't scare them away... ;)
