Hi,
I've just rested my party in the Welcome Wench Inn and one of my characters has woken up diseased! I know that you're supposed to have a chance of getting diseased when you rest somewhere unhygenic (e.g. the tower outside the moathouse), but surely not when you're in an inn?
Has anyone else had this problem? Any idea how to avoid it? (Other than paying Jaroo to remove the disease - which is an expensive solution!) I've tried reloading before resting but I keep getting diseased - the game seems to have decided that next time I rest here, one of my characters is going to catch disease!
I'm using the Circle of Eight modpack v5.0.0 and have just finished clearing out the moathouse.
Related but separate query:
I seems that my character catches disease even if they make a Fortitude save (The text in the side-box says: [CHARNAME] makes Fortitude save: Success! [CHARNAME] is diseased.) Surely I'm not supposed to catch disease if I succeed in the Fortitude save?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Riven.
Disease in the inn

This is not a bug, and the inn is not causing it. What happened was, you got diseased earlier, but because of the incubation period, you didn't know about it. Likely you got hit by a dire rat or something along those lines. You can keep resting until you make the appropriate fortitude saves and it'll go away. You have to make two in a row, and it's not one save per rest, it's one save per 24 hours, so you will have to rest a good while.
Hope that helps.

(Use the lastest 1.3 build - it's still beta, but stable and far better than 1.2)

Thanks for the info. Can I check I've got this right - if you get hit by a disease-causing creature, you don't get a message about it right there and then - you just find out later when you have to make a Fortitude save? That seems a bit unfair!
I looked on the Co8 forum and found a post which suggested that the Co8 mod added something which means if you carry around the Fungus Figurine you get an increased chance of catching a disease - so I'm thinking that might be causing it (and that it might be a good time to get rid of the thing!)

Yeah, that's pretty much how it works. You might make an innitial saving throw and that can be viewed in the roll window, but it'll be very easy to miss, whether made or failed. Annoying it is. But I'm fairly sure that's how it works in D&D 3.5. Read about it here. The incubation periods are often several days, so it might have been a fight long ago that did you in.Riven wrote:Thanks for the info. It might increase the save DCs of the disease causing things, or it might add a few times when you have to make a save, but it definitely doesn't just cause disease on it's own. And it's a handy free summon to have around. :mischief:Riven wrote:I looked on the Co8 forum and found a post which suggested that the Co8 mod added something which means if you carry around the Fungus Figurine you get an increased chance of catching a disease - so I'm thinking that might be causing it (and that it might be a good time to get rid of the thing!)
