Need help with Debugmode stuff

ok I know how to get into the chat box, (hit enter)
type in ~ then DebugMode 1
then type in one of the assorted codes, such as dm_givegold # (where # is the quantity)
I see what I did float above the character for a couple of seconds, but nothing happens to the character. So if I were trying to give the toon 10000 gold the gold quantity that the character has does not change.

What do I do next? tell it DebugMode 0 then ~ to get out of the screen for the adjustments?

I have tried several commands, giving skills, adjusting stats, nothing seems to be working...

Need more info...

On top of that my dwarf disappeared as well...

For most commands, you have to have a character targeted. Right click on characters to target them.

Just tried that, right clicked on both my toon and on the thifling, in separate attempts, I saw the bubble above the toon showing that the command had been accepted, but nothing happens, aka no gold, no skills, nothing further. Just wondering, after I have typed the command giving gold we will say, so dm_givegold 100 (enter), what do I do AFTER that? I can get to the giving the
"gimme stuff" commands, and I see the command above the toons, but what comes after?

Do I DebugMode 0 (enter) ~ (enter) or do nothing or what???

It turns out this is your problem. You don't enter chat mode to issue the commands. Just press ~ and that will open up the console. You'll know the console is open if the top of your screen is yellow.

Finally got it . I was not getting into the console as I was hitting SHIFT tilde rather than just tilde... works fine now.
