I recently read where Dubbyah assured a visiting foreign minister that he did, indeed, know where Bratislava was, and its importance to Central European economy. Unfortunately, the politician wasn't from Slovakia, of which Bratislava is the capitol. He was from Slovenia. Different country.

"I would have said yes to abortion if only it was right. I mean, yeah it's right. Well no it's not right that's why I said no to it." -Bush would do better if he stopped trying to memorize speeches in advance, and just said the first, most disastrous thing that came to mind. ;)

ROFLMAO :D :D :D

What a great thread, Tom :D I'm also getting a stomach ace :D

@Xandax: :D :D I especially love the "We are a part of Europe".

@Fable: You are probably right in your assumption about how these totally contradicting and strange comments come by. Trying to memorize a speach AND reading it often causes confusion even for experienced speakers.

I agree there and I wish ya'll would stop making fun of Bush for missaying things. From what I've seen, I doubt ya'll would do any better. Also, everytime I see someone making fun of one of Bush's missayings, it hurts my own self-esteem because I have similar trouble, especially when I'm reading, whether aloud or to myself.

Example: I read the following quote

as "We are a great thread" the first time I read it. If I were giving a speech and read "What a great thread" as "We are a great thread", or made other similar mistakes, you'd probably make fun of me in the same way you make fun of Bush; and considering that in the career I'm planning, I'll likely be giving speeches/lectures, so I don't need my self-esteem lowered by kisama who have nothing better to do than make fun of other peoples mistakes. :( :(

It's one thing to make a joke about someone missaying something, such as the 'shortening disease' thing that started when Aegis said 'invibility' instead of 'invincibility' and Mr. Sleep said 'invibity' instead of 'invibility', but it reaches a point where it's gone too far. It's rediculous to not like someone just because they don't always say things the way they mean to.

If you get mad at me for what I've said, then that means it very likely applies to you. If you don't like me now because of what I've said, then you can just bite me.

Well, people usually expects the President, the leader of the most powerful country on earth to speak with correctness. Especially if you graduated out of Yale.

Why? He's just as human as everyone else. Put a man on a pedestal and he will fall. The higher the pedestal, the farther he will fall.

I can see you are angry with the fact people taking micky out of your president's mistakes, and understand that fully. However, the word kisama is deeply offensive and I do not think it is suitable in the open forum. You may think there's nobody who can understand Japanese so it is fine to use it, but I do know it and am unconfortable with it. Please do careful with the choice of words, as there are many people who speak more than one language in this forum.

Thanks.

I knew there would be other people here who know what that word means. I apologize if it offended you. The only people I meant to offend with it are those who are constanly making fun of Bush's speech mistakes. I did 'carefully' chose my wording. I had originally typed baka, then decided that wasn't a strong enough word to get across how I feel on the matter; though normally, I try to avoid using the word "kisama" because I do not normally use such offensive language in any language. Again, I apologize to any who I have offended that don't fit within the category of baka that I was trying to offend.
