Help - Slow doors and fires not moving

Post by bufnbif1 »

Hi...Something changed and I am not sure what.
I was moving along just fine when I noticed that the doors open very slowly.
Sometimes taking a minute or more before I can get thru them.
Everything else seems to be working fine while the doors are opening,
NPCs and my movements are ok.
I also noticed that flames from fires don't mover at all.
When I sell things in shops or open my storage cabinet, where I put all of the interesting things i find in the game, I notice that the game pauses with a ghost overlay of the contents of the cabinet page with the screen shot of the exterior of the cabinet....or sales person.
Everything was working fine up until I hit around level 38-40. I'm not sure what I was doing when it started happening.

Am I wearing something I need to get rid of?
I have a TON of stuff in that storage cabinet.
Do I need to sell it off?

I am running a Asus M2N32 SLI deluxe board, with an AMD6000+, 2 gig of memory, and 2 evga 8600gts vid cards.

Having a ton of stuff in a cabinet can make it take a second or two longer to open, but it wouldn't affect any other containers, and certainly not fires and other animations.

There's really nothing in the game that would make it run slower when your character is high level. Probably a coincidence with something else. Did you install any plug-ins or mods recently? If so, try disabling the recent ones until you find the one that's causing the problem.

Or maybe it's something completely unrelated to the game? For example, a couple of months ago Windows Update without asking "upgraded" the video drivers on my brother's PC after which the video performance was truly awful until he went out to the video card manufacturer's site and got the real drivers re-installed. Do you notice performance problems with other games or programs other than Oblivion?
Can the answer to this question be "No"?
