Terribly and fatally buggy
can't say enough that this is a terribly buggy game, especially with all that hype and marketing it got. the least they could do was make sure those save game files don't get corrupt so easily. it's just so terribly frustrating to have to restart after several days of gameplay!! and having to download those patches from lousy servers.

with such bugs, those ppl at ubisoft shouldn't expected for the large number of ppl trying to download and set up mirror sites. sheesh, now i have to wait as it seems that the patch will invalidate any save games made by the original. worse is, i've heard that uninstalling the game using the wrong uninstaller could actually destroy your file system... that true?

IMHO, you have a ticking time bomb in your computer. I've seen a couple of reports from people over at the UBI site, that using the un-installer that came with the game can "Wipe" your hard drive. The company itself "Highly advises" you use the new version of the un-installer included in one of the patches. 1.2, I think.
If someone were to ask me my opinion on how to un-install, this is what I would advise.
1) Back up all critical files. Favorites, address books, any work files, save game files. Anything else that has been downloaded that might be lost in a total system loss.
2) Get anything together you might need for a system recovery. Driver discs, etc...
3) Run the un-installer from patch 1.2
4) Get down on your knees, cross your fingers and toes, and pray to all that is Holy that your comp. survives.
ps. The game wiped my comp. when I installed. I believe it could happen when running the un-installer as well.

@Ranger, have the dreadful reports coincided with your own personal experience--in fact, what happened when you personally played the game? I played it and uninstalled it even without the 1.2 fix quite successfully. I haven't heard of anybody having problems on the uninstall once the 1.2 patch is in place.

Sorry Fable, I've never given this game another chance. I really can't take the chance on it doing something else to my system. I've played it on a friends system, who got it to install nicely. Still found it to be a bit buggy. Not majorly so. Just some inconvenient crashes to desktop.
I've never had to run the un-installer on my own comp, as I've not re-installed it. I just can't bring myself to trust UBI. I would like to believe that the compnay got on the ball after the first few complaints. Some questions just nag at the back of my mind. "Who wrote this version?", "Did they get it right?".

man, i'm getting freaked out. i've got too mcuh data to back up unless i get myself a zip drive or another hard disk. hmm...
i uninstalled once without the patches and without knowing about the possible consequence. nothing untoward happened. lucky me i guess.
this is probably the 1st game that has users worried over installing and uninstalling the game. what the hell did UBI do with the testing phase? i don't think i'm gonna trust another UBI game again.
