Diplomacy Bug - Help!!!

Post by Solusek »

Hey guys,

my Diplomacy skill is suddenly bugged, and I have absolutely no idea why. It seems that the skill is locked at its base value, ignoring all modifiers, like Charisma modifier or +Diplomacy on items. I'm really absolutely clueless how or when this happened. In an earlier savegame however, everything is perfectly fine. I have MotB installed.

Has anybody encountered this problem before or can think of a way to fix it?

This is really important for me since Diplomacy is one of the main role-playing aspects my current char depends on. So please, help meeee!!!

EDIT: It's even stranger!!! My Diplomacy skill adds the modifier from items, and even the positive charisma modifier from items. It doesn't add the modifier from Ladies' Man however. It is as if the game considered my base charisma modifier as 0, although it is +7.

Example:
I'm lvl 24, have 23 charisma +1 charisma from the Dreamer's eye feat. This results in 24 charisma, and thus a positive modifier of +7. I've spent all available points in the Diplomacy skill, so my base Diplomacy is 27. 4 at lvl1 + 23 from level-ups. +7 would be 34 +1 from Ladies' Man would be 35. But somehow the modifier doesn't apply. My Diplomacy is still 27. When I put on the Greater Mask of Persuasion however, which adds +2 to my charisma and +5 to my Diplomacy skill, it rises to 33. This means that the Diplomacy skill AND EVEN the charisma modifier(2 charisma => +1) of the mask add to my Diplomacy skill. I can put on the Amulet of the Master for another +6 Diplomacy, raising it to 39. So basically everything works except my base charisma modifier and the Ladies' Only feat.

Are you playing MOTB? You can get a trinket there that reduces your diplomacy.

SWC
Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

Nope, that's not it. I know about the trinket, since it is my second run through MotB. Thx anyway. The problem seems to be fixed though. For now at least. The Diplomacy value was corrected after my next level up.
