xp gain towards prestige class

Post by Tricky »

æon's - star wars - knights of the old republic ii - the sith lords faq
Prestige Class - The game will boost your present XP count until you reach the *next* Level Up, when you turn Prestige Class. This was done to avoid having to play with a *0* Level in that Prestige Class. Huge potential for XP gains here!
I've read this little paragraph a couple of times and I'm not sure I get it. Can anyone help explain to me what's there is to 'going prestige' to be taken advantage of?

I assume they refer to the fact that if you time your conversation with Kreia that triggers the prestige class, so that it happens right after you've levelled up, then you level up again immediately, thus gaining all the XP necessary to raise to the next level. When you're talking about going from, say, level 18 to level 19, that's an awful lot of XP.

It's become almost automatic for me to do it that way, but if anyone hadn't sussed it would be a useful tip maybe.

Must be hard to figure out how many prestige class levels you can sacrifice to this gain.

Personally I usually make the change at level 15, but as soon as I hit 15, not really that difficult to do once you know about it. I guess that was the whole point of the tip, to try and give advance warning to those who don't know. The XP needed to go from 15 to 16 is still probably the single biggest XP boost in the game.

I'm not really sure how levels progress in KOTOR 2, xp, BAB or feat wise. There were charts in the KOTOR 1 manual, but they are strangely absent in this one. Are you trying to tell me that there is a bigger gain from 15-16 than.. say 18-19?

No, I didn't phrase it very well. I meant that the XP boost no matter what level you are is the single biggest boost you'll get in the game. The first time I played the game I didn't realise what the significance and took the PC when I was almost ready to level up. Maybe that experience colours my view of the tip, had I had that tip the first time I played I would have been better prepared first time round.
