King of Shadows bug (spoilers)

Post by Indiana_Jones »

The last battle, after the 30 odd clones, in my game, is bugged. I get to the point where AJ says 'Steel yourselves. This is not over.' and nothing. I can't bash the statues (yes I know about the right click thing) and I can't do a thing to the KoS. When right clicking him I can talk to him (he has nothing to say), I can Sleight of hand him (He has nothing), I can examine him, (The KoS stands before you) and I can heal him (not gonna happen, and he is fully healthy at this point anyway. When merely mousing over him, it comes up with the lil talk balloon, not the attack swordy thing. I can't do anything to the staues either, although I can use them,

This has happened twice. The first time I tried it and this happened I went back to an earlier save, just after picking up AJ from Shandras farm, played through and it was exactly the same.

It would be really crap to get to the last battle and not be able to finish the game.

Help!

Sounds like yet another trigger which didn't fire.
Other then finding out which one it is via the toolset and using it manually via console commands, I only know of going back to your autosave prior to entering the final battle.

Also make sure your game is fully patched.

Wow, that was quick, thanks for that.

Unfortunately it didn't help any, although I remain optimistic. I'll give a few more details in the hope that it will help.

I lost Grobnar somewhere along the way, as per a lot of other threads in this forum, he never made it to the vale. I patched the game this very morning and am now updated to1.010.1116 English. I am not very smart with computers, and as far as retriggering goes via console commands, my cats breath smells like cat food! But if you give me detailed instructions on how to do this, I will give it a shot.

Alternatively, my email is indiana_jones@atwgammon.com, and if anyone can help, drop me a line there and I will send you the saved games if you like.

Funnily enough, I completed the NWN 2 game without patching it. So, it seems that the game is best at its basics with few crashes and bugs.

No. I've had little to no issues at all with my version of NwN either, and kept it fully patched at all time.
It looks to be rather random these problems with scripts not triggering.
There is no reason not to upgrade a game - especially one which started out as buggy as NwN2 did.

Since repeating from a save game awhile back also seem to result in the same bug, it might be related to party composition, the possession of a plot item, or a few plot items, and/or maybe even companion Influence rating... anything might influence script that was not caught. Even patching might not fix it unless it's something commonly encountered by many.

Of course, this is merely a guess with references to a Grobnar related quest being top of the list in script triggering issues.

Im having this same problem in a saved game. :( It's obviously a failed trigger launch. After fighting the first 2 forms of KoS, he and the party just stands there. The statues don't even take dmg when bashing 'em. There's that chat option instead of attack. Another thing to notice is Grobnar isn't in the party - could it be interlinked? (seems to be Npcs been poofing lately)

If anyone could help me find out the right trigger for this last fight I'd appreciate it. By the way, this game is fully patched.
(Also looked on the toolset for triggers - I dont' know which to look for.)
''White light beams through darkness, beset by immense haze over a few seconds followed by a loud cacophony. Motionless, the repercussion of your action strikes your feebled mind and senses. Still dazed, the intensity lingers that follows after tripping over your own sonic blind trap.''

Guess I've just been a very lucky fellow. :D

But I fully patch the game after completing it the first time. Still, no crashes. :D :D

The problem happens when Grobnar goes missing. The script needs him there to sound impressed before it continues.

Copy his .ros file from a working save (in My Documents \ Neverwinter Nights 2 \Saves) to the save before the final fight, he should reappear and the trigger will fire.
