magic weaponry

Post by earthswallower »

Another "new player question" please; sorry to impose. AFter finding the Venom Dagger in the sewers or theater, I couldn't tell if it was working. As a rogue, I decided that the reason it wasn't working was because I had no magic weaponry skill. Accordingly, I joined the mage guild, acquired magic weaponry and ramped it up to 7. I now have the Venom, Crypt and Necrotic daggers, as well as an Elven Bloodsword, but when I use these items, I cannot tell if they are working, i.e. am I obtaining the "magic" benefit of these items. For instance, when I use the Crypt, no one ever falls asleep. Am I doing something wrong? Can you actually tell if the "magic" component of these weapons is actually working?

Thank you.

If the weapon specifically says it requires a level in magic weaponry - then thats what it requires.. if not, then it doesn't.

(of the daggers) Only the Winter Dagger requires magic weaponry:

Note that the more difficult the opponent, the less effective the effect - and also, the lower the skill needed to use weapon - the less effective. Practically speaking this means that most of the daggers aren't of much use after about character level 10 (..the winter dagger is an exception). And yes, you can tell when a dagger's effect is working.. take-on some Brigands in the Slums of Fargrove or along any highway.. The Necrotic dagger is more powerful than the Crypt dagger, so try using that.. IF you see a Brigand just kind of stop where he is for a few seconds.. then thats the effect working.

Note: When you get into the Naga Temple their will be a room with about 5 chests - at least one of which will drop magic weapon axes and the fire Kama (..so make sure you save your game before opening them). ;)

Many thanks for your time and response. I guess that makes sense now that I think about it because I don't really pause long enough to see if an "ordinary" opponent pauses, or bleeds to death etc., but there are occasions when I can strike 2 or 3 times and the opponent seems "frozen." The Elven Bloodsword causes much more damage than the daggers, so I will likely continue to use it and just hope they all bleed to death! LOL - thanks again.
