Missing Bard - Grobnar! Help! [Spoilers]

Post by sun_facer »

Hi there.

I just came back from Ember. And about to start the trial. I realised that the bard is missing from my party list. I did not bother at first.

I was about to start the fight with Lorne. But the bard wasnt there.

I think it's a bug! Help!
Without the bard, I can't start the fight with Lorne.. and cannot move in the game!
In the end, everything will be alright. If it is not alright, it is not the end.

Er.. I don't suppose "reload from an earlier save before the bard vanishes" would help... ?

Sadly, my last saved game didn't have the bard too....

Is there a way to debug?
In the end, everything will be alright. If it is not alright, it is not the end.

Perhaps. Do you know the GFF editor, for savegames?I know there is savegame data on all characters, even if you haven't obtained them yet. There has to be a variable that adds them.

Tiefling tail.
This manual on adding tails to Tieflings doesn't help you (I have this bookmarked, so there), but it shows how to get in there and which files you need to open. After that it is up to you to find the variable.

I tried DebugMode 1 --> rs kr_roster_edit.

Added everyone till Ammon Jerro. But still, the bard could not be found. In his place, there is a deep red and blue icon on his potrait... picture of a shadow running away.

I noticed the first time I gotten here, I did not have influence with Grobnar. This time, I did... and ended up with this bug.

Looks like I have to start ALL OVER AGAIN.

I do mind... all the hours gone. But at least the game is fun enough to go through it.
Just can't imagine getting giddy in the warehouse and tombs again... camera really getting to me.
In the end, everything will be alright. If it is not alright, it is not the end.

I reached the same point in the OC with another character.

This time, I took Khelgar instead of Grobnar.
This time, it was Khelgar who disappeared on my transit from Port Llast to Neverwinter.

I had to use rs kr_roster_edit to get rid of everyone except for Shandra at Port Llast. Only with this, do I find all companions when I return to Sunken Flagon. If this is a bug, it is a big one.
In the end, everything will be alright. If it is not alright, it is not the end.

I have noticed a couple of times (mostly with Khelgar) that a NPC can vanish, if you transition (for me, so far only to the docks) with 2 familiars/animal companions in your party. Perhaps even modified the order they have in the "party list".

I usually reload from the auto save, remove/unsummon the familiars etc and then transit again.

Haven't noticed this vanishing in other circumstances, but it might be a different type of "vanish" and thus unrelated.

I guess the safest way is to save in different slots often.

And to count the number of companions who are with you whenever you arrive at a new destination.

It really sux to have lost a character.

So far, many of the PCs are required for the pliot to continue. If they missing, then having to restart just anti-climax.

I also tried the GFFeditor. Only ended up rather frustrated because I could not determine which parameters to look at.
Ended up making my character skin turn purple.... GOd knows what I did to get that.

Where are the points in the game where PCs tend to disappear? DOCKS?
Mine is PORT LlAST --> TRIAL.

At least if we know where the bugs are, I can stop counting the PCs.
Of course, we can choose to travel alone.. but that just spoils the plot isn't it?
In the end, everything will be alright. If it is not alright, it is not the end.

<snip>
The game auto saves each time you transition, so if you count/keep an eye on that, you should be able to go back to a save game right before any time.
So you do not even need multiple different saves. You "just" need to keep an eye out ... sucks though and let's hope it if fixed some time soon.

I just solved this problem

I got a saved game file from another and pasted the missing party member in, they get loaded in from where the other person saved.

I was missing the dwarf and the Trail of tyr would not work as he was gone I will email a gnome if you contact me
