I am very new to NWN2 and I stopped playing D&D after AD&D 2nd, so I'm not new to rpgs per se, but I'm not quite clear on all the fancy new 3rd ed concepts.
Here's my problem: I'm playing an elven wizard, and I thought it might be neat to get a few levels of Arcane Archer to help my ranged combat when there's not enough enemies in one place to waste an AoE spell or when I'm--Mystra forbid--out of spells. However, I really don't see how in this system getting even a single level of AA would be beneficiary. First of all, I'll probably need to level up wizard/fighter so I can even get the attack bonus necessary for the class. Then, when I'm at a really high level already, the bonuses granted by the AA prestige class seem completely negligible when compared to more spells or even spells of a higher level. I'm pretty sure I'm overlooking something here--can someone help me? Or maybe it just doesn't make sense to have a main-class (if that term still makes sense) spell-caster and then to go for a prestige class on top of that (except I guess Harper Agents, who get spells too, if I read it right).
The way I see it the AA class really isn't meant for pure spellcasters. It's meant for characters who specialize in the bow (like a fighter). The arcane spellcasting level is just a requirement you need to fill. Magic shouldn't be a priority and you shouldn't get more caster levels once AA is unlocked.

Ah, I see, so AA isn't a good prestige class for wizards. Alright. Pity about that. I guess there isn't any useful prestige class for my Wizard (5) Fighter (3)? I'll probably just keep leveling him as a sort of dualclass character.
This prestige class seems suited towards the fighter/wizard. Doesn't seem too powerful to me though. Spellcasters are just poor for multiclassing in general in my book They can't afford to spene levels in other classes, as they'll miss the most powerful spells.
