Best race for Arcane Trickster
Best race for Arcane Trickster
I am kinda new to NWN2, and was wondering what the best race would be for a scorcerer/rogue AT with one level of Shadowdancer. Also, stats would be helpful as I am puzzled about that, as well.
I don't have NWN2 yet, but I've got lots of experience with the "real deal", i.e. pen & paper.
Elf might be a good choice. The standard subrace. I think NWN2 has a 30 Point buy, so I'd take something like this:
STR 10 DEX 18 CON 12 INT 16 WIS 10 CHA 8
Increase your INT always every 4 levels. Also, I'd drop that Shadowdancer level. You can get Hide in Plain Sight by casting an Invisibility spell and caster levels = power.
Another take: Tiefling.
STR 10 DEX 18 CON 14 INT 18 WIS 10 CHA 6.
Sale goes here, but you get better HP, skills & INT.

Don't forget you need charisma to cast sorceror spells. Drow accually seems to cover all your necesary stats, but you will have -1 skills during the day.
I think wizards make better arcane tricksters because inteligence is very important to thieving and casting. In this case Sun Elfs and Tiefling are the clear winners.
Check out this tread for more than you wanted to know.

A final note, when creating a character I recomend boosting inteligence and using level ups for other attributes, because can't make up lost skill points with a lower starting inteligence.

I apologise, I read "Arcane Trickster" and immediatly presumed Wizard. So hard even, I didn't register your sorcerer.
Besides that, Wizards are much better, period, but especially when combined with Rogues, because as Sniper pointed out, rogues need skillpoints.
Also, you're better off using levelup-points to increase INT, because those count vs. the maximum spell level you can cast and skill points. INT from an Item doesn't, for example.
