Glass Bow / CE Sanctuary ?'s

Post by joe05 »

... well, we had to re-do; again
Constance "chat" option stopped working.

So we added a few more mods.
* meadow fae companion
* DB armor
* glass armor revamped(... leads to question 1)
* Morrowind Comes Alive(... leads to question 2)

1) Can I add a Glass Bow to the game ?
The modder took it out of the mod ?

As it is, I will at some point be using a Deadric Bow/Spear = 66lbs
Rather not CE Longbow on a ring to save lbs.

I'm trying to travel as "Light" as possible.

I don't feel I'm cheating because I could buy it; steal it.
But there is none in the game :-(
Lots of good bows in the Archery mod, but the weight is high.
I was envisioning a bow like Dragonslayer ... 4-45 damage ... but weight around 6lbs ... condition around 700-800lbs ... middle ground between Daedric and Drangonslayer bows ... $15,000( ... could drop $ on the ground)

I would like to just put it on the ground; somewhere ... Balmora has lots of open space

Read the CS help ... getting started etc ... confusing
Looked for simple tutorials; couldn't find any.

Can it be done ?
Is it easy to do ?

Can someone post a CS help link.
I'd really like to make a Glass Bow = "fits perfectly with my character/build/physical limitations"

2) I decided to choose sign-Thief
Maybe useles ?
Noticed +10 to Sanctuary.
Never used the spell ... noticed nobody mentions it
Seems to fit my character/build + might help me stay alive ?
I believe the spell mentioned, " helps dodge melee attacks ... using a formula based on one's agility" ?
Since I'm going Bow/Light Armor, that should hit 100.

Have many good CE ideas .. thanks for all the tips ! ... loading up on clothing to try all your ideas
Wondering if I could/should fit CE Sanctuary into the mix, or does it chew up points = "is CE Sactuary, all or nothing"

Anyways, sorry for being a pest.
Unlike my previous non-essential thread, this one hits right to the core of my character/build/playing style.
Core for most, if not all my builds.

Much of this was brought to my attention because of Morrowind Come Alive.
Should be renamed; "Morrowind, Run For Your Life".
I'm getting killed repeatedly. To the point of I might levitate, swim, skulk into towns.
I simple can't out run anyone ?
I'm bare bones ... DB armor/ Bonemold Bow/ Glass Dagger(...Redoran Vault) /200 arrows / few potions
My weight/carry ratio is over 50%.
Sad part, "I'm level 1" ... I thought that gear + build setup should have me in good shape = obviously not(LOL)

Why I want that Glass Bow ... if CE Sanctuary might help(..when I get the gems)
I'm assuming the thugs/footpads only get tougher :-(

Really want to learn the CS.
Problem is, more I read, more confused I get = "system overload"
Is the CS difficult to use, or am I a dolt :-)

Thanks everyone.

Well I tried PMing my tips on how to do it, but it was too long, so I've attached it to this post Joe. Hopefully you have a word processor that can handle Microsoft Word 97 docs, if not Open Office is available free here OpenOffice.org: Home, I really recommend it to anyone.

Galraen - thank you !

I selected the weapon tab and all I see is ....... VFX_DefaultBolt

As when I was experimenting before, I must not understand the help/getting started information.
The upper tabs are greyed out ... Exit / Edit etc
The game tabs, when I select them show nothing ... or in this case, just VFX_DefaultBolt(...Weapons)

I have Wilderness window 0,0 (?)
Some Wildernes cell info below etc ....

I believe I can follow your steps if I keep that window open while I'm proceeding :-)
I can see this CS stuff is complicated = make me appreciate all the modders even more !

I have to see what I'm doing wrong ... why no game "stuff" shows in the box below the game tabs
Guess it's like the mods; "I'm missing a step/something".
We will have to read more OR wing it(... just click everywhere = worked in the past, but also got me into trouble)

Thank you, Galraen.

... geez, what a dumb***

Sorry; guys.
Just like mods, I miss the obvious.

I knew I was missing the "input" part.

I'm 20 steps from, hopefully, creating my first CS item.

Really appreciate all the help.
From gameplay tips/modding/CS etc ...

May have to add more memory :-)
Still have not added the big quest mods.

I'll try and keep this short :-)

I could not find Auriel's bow in the "w" folder.
I found it under the tabs ... copied the path for Art/Inventory
In my Meshes "w" folder, the weapons were few compared to the long list under the tabs.
The weapons seemed to be from mods added ... I noticed many bows from Suran Archery mod ... plus a few .NIF from the Glass Armor revamped mod

I have my screem resolution lower than should be(... easier to click icons + more processor power for my games).
I might have missed a vertical scroll arrow ... used the horizontal scroll arrow ... probably should have dragged the screen to the center ?

Anyway, I noticed the Glass Armor modder left in a .NIF for his Glass Longbow.
Used that NIF.
No TGA Glass Longbow, so I just picked a bow I used from the Suran Archery mod.

In, short, "we have a Glass Longbow" ... "THANKS" !!!
The modder green-ed the Daedric bow.

I believe he left in the NIF for a Glass Wakazashi ... in case I use a companion who is Bow/Shortblade

Looks like we try Arya ... Bow/Spear
Plus, I can put Acheron's tent next to hers ... maybe a planter in between
Can't afford a house :-(
Seems Morrowind Comes Alive stuck a NPC in the Ghostgate weapon dealer ... that was mean ... there goes $100,000 (LOL)

Very appreciative for all the help ... you have gone "above and beyond"
Because of the help/tips/advice, I believe I'm set ... this build is probably my best bet to succeed(Glass Bow + Glass Spear + low weight/carry ratio ... Saviour's Hide and Boots of Blinding Speed too) without cheesing ... still will CE my clothing = I'm not that good

Hopefully I have figured out what's important = won't pester you with more questions
Unless we run into another MOD or CS problem :-)

Once more; "thanks".

Did you get a separate Construction Set disk when you bought the game Joe?

Galrean -yes.
After not finding the bow, I dug out the disc ... it's not easy to reach, but I dragged myself to get it(LOL)
I can't say for sure, because I was reading your instructions very carefully, then using the CS, but when I put the disc in(... after first not seeing Auriel's bow), the "w" folder did not seem to change.
Again, my focus was on following your steps = I could easily have missed something
But, I went thru "all" the "w"-weapons one by one ... no ebony_auriel_bow
In fact, I did not see any weapons I recognized from the stock game ... after playing, stole from the vault weapons not in the "w" folder(LOL)

I'm betting I missed a scroll arrow ?
Obviously, the weapons are in the game.

I would go back and look, but we have our bow :-)

Next time, or if we re-do, I'll pop the CS disc in and check.
I'm afraid I'll mess up if I go poking around now :-)
I'm "happy" to have my bow = if it ain't broke don't fix it(LOL)

Your 50-50 damage idea was very helpful.
Used the bow a bit(..high repair cost) ... test it out
I noticed less shoulder strain, as I don't have to hold the L-Mouse button down when I'm auto-walking ... frees up my arm = can relax it for a few moments
When things get tough(...shrines etc), I'll see how it alters my hand/arm movements.
I might be able to use a melee companion ? ... I figure your advice will save me that 1-1+sec needed to draw the bow back ... not to mention the shoulder strain that slows me down the more I play

I will check on the CS disc/"w" weapons; just not right now :-)
Don't want to mess up a good thing.. I have a habit, as you can see, of messing up ... right now, "we're all good" !

Galraen ... Thanks

On the CS disk you'll find a Data Files Directory, this can be copied to your hard drive. Before doing so though back-up your current Data Files directory, just in case.

To copy it drag the data Files folder from the CD onto the Morrowind folder, not the Data Files folder. I do his by selecting the folder with the right mouse button and holding it down whilst dragging it. When you release the button a dialogue box should open asking if you want to move or copy the folder. Select copy and it should then point out that the folder already exists, do you want to overwrite, say yes, or yes to all if that is an option. No files from mods you've installed should be overwritten. This should work fine, however if you subsequently encounter problems, simply restore your back-up.

Galraen - I have a hard time dragging.
Well, we never drag :-)
My hands can't keep up the pressure on the button while trying to manuever the mouse etc ...

Can I cut/paste.
Cut to a Desktop folder ... paste to the Morrowind folder ?

I'd make extra folders on my desktop.

Basically, it's how I do my mods.

I need to PM you a question.
Hit a snag with a companion I added(...Korana Meadow Fae Companion) ... need some CS advice

Cut and paste should work, although I've never tried it. Silly me, I should have realised dragging and dropping would be a problem.
