does anyone know of good games that are similar to fable in play style.... i've been looking but can't really find anything that is kinda the same style where there are quest and side quest and you can pick a path to go down (not necessarily good or bad but just different ways to play the game...)

Not that I know of. The closest that I can think of is the Gothic series. They also allow you to take different paths and do feature quite a lot of side quests. Problem is that the combat is frustratingly bad.

Well there is Sudeki, it's the same sort of cartoony feel is an Rpg sort of but doesn't really have many choices but is an awesome combat engine

hmm.. I guess I'll just wait for Fable 2 then... hopefully they didn't change the feel of the game to much since it is a one of a kind game and I'd hate for them to ruin the series but I'm sure it will be good.
