Do healers use destructive spells?
Do most healers out there us destructive spells or do they just rely on blunt weapons? I'm unsure of what to do. Also how would some of the "bad" potions help you ei paralyze, drain fatigue, etc., if only you can drink them? thanks for your help!

Depends on how you want to roleplay it. Few people play healers, since the main quest system requires a good deal of destruction; but that's no reason you shouldn't ignore the main quest, and just focus on having fun with healing. After all, there's the Imperial Cult, which has a quest system all its own for healers. Enjoy.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

In addition to the Imperial Cult, the Temple also has a lot of quests that require the ability to heal.
Of course...these two factions are rivals, so it depends on how you want to roleplay it. However, there's nothing actually stopping you from joining both.
Regarding the negative effect potions.. If you make them yourself, they are good for practicing your Alchemy skill, and then, if you so choose, you can also sell the results.
Other than that, though, I don't really think they have much of a purpose.
If you are on PC, however, there are a few mods that allow you to make certain potions into projectile weapons:
Alchemist's Arsenal - Planet Elder Scrolls
Cyrodon's Projectile Potions - Planet Elder Scrolls
House Of Potions - (War Potions) - Planet Elder Scrolls
Potions (2) - Planet Elder Scrolls
