As we all know, power is something we strive for, we like getting more power in terms of levels, items and etc.
I like to powergame and make sure to create as powerful of a character as I possibly can, I consider this one of the reasons why I play rpg's. So it is with great dismay that I keep bumping into these disgusting character designs who has by far much much more power than my own character.
Like take kreia for example, she has 10 str, 16 dex and con, 14 int and 16 wis, 12 charisma. It is not possible to create a character with those attribute points by a longshot. So I inevitably feel that my character is much worse than her, that my character is weaker, worse, a failure, unpowerful. Inadvertently this ofcourse also feels as a personal failure as I unfortunatly take games seriously?
I guess maybe there is something wrong with me for caring in the firstplace because*obvious sarcastic tone* 'its just a game' perhaps, well perhaps whoever feels like saying that should shove a stick up their rectum! I'm just saying this as a precautionary method and because im really angry when I write this.
Ok, so back to the issue at hand then, WHY DO THEY DO THIS TO ME??
Is it because OBSIDIAN(its edited now) is indeed the most evil being in the whole galaxy and they do it on purpose because they feel that I should be punished when playing their games?
Do they do it out of pity? Because they dont think I will be able to complete the game unless my companions have ridiculous attribute points. Do they do it because they consider me a [removed] for playing their game in the first place and thus need this extra help?
Do they do it because they still feel guilty for how ****ty the attribute points were on characters in baldurs gate compared to your main character (who could reroll for 1 year untill he had almost 18 in everything)??
Do they do it because they think you wouldnt notice, that they could sneak this sneaky snakie sneakattack behind our back and just sneakattack us to death with it???
Is it because of pure evil, oh no wait, I already asked that.. Is it because of their lack of understanding their player(s) ? Am I really alone in caring about this?
Is it because if we DIDNT have characters in the game that made our main character feel worse we wouldn't rant about it and then the rest of the forum couldnt laugh at the demise of said ranter? Well thats just about the most ridiculous reason I've ever heard!!
So whats your take on this?

Erm, Bioware didn't make KOTOR2, Obsidian did...probo wrote: Is it because bioware is indeed the most evil being in the whole galaxy and they do it on purpose because they feel that I should be punished when playing their games?
I can't say this has really concerned me when playing. Different characters are useful for different aspects of gameplay. It adds to the replayability for me.
What a boring answer you gave me!! The first reply in the thread such a letdown
"I can't say this has really concerned me when playing. Different characters are useful for different aspects of gameplay. It adds to the replayability for me."
It certainly doesent affect replayability! It affects playability, the here and now! It doesent matter how many times I play the game, this issue would still bother me, as it has bothered me throughout many game titles and is still equally annoying.
"Different characters are useful for different aspects of gameplay."
Would you care to elaborate on this? Im not entirely sure what you mean... (make an example if possible)

I think you're overreacting a bit... Sure, Kreia has higher stats, but if you know her full background, that's rather easy to explain.
On the other hand, with a bit of forethought, by the time you attain your lightsabre, you're easily the most powerful member of any party. (This moment is just as a reference point, not something that's set in stone.)
Care to post your build? Maybe it can use some finetuning?

Take T3-M4 and Bao-Dur as an example. You used them when it comes to accessing doors, crates and others that require high security skills (not to mention that thanks to their skills, you don't use up that many computer spikes).probo wrote: "Different characters are useful for different aspects of gameplay."

''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

Heads up, another boring post coming....probo wrote:

I don't think it's really something that they're "doing to you". It's not like they made the game, you started playing it, and then they changed it. As much as I can tell, the different character designs are to give each character an individual element (as Gawain says with Kreia, for example).
But also, the point about the Exile as a character is not necessarily their individual strength, but their ability to influence those around them. Hence why it becomes important for them to be strong too.
Not a great answer I know, but I guess the best I can think of when trying to think why this doesn't irritate me in the way it does you...
The post ends with a huge explosion and a plethora of fireworks and cannon fire, all set to a magical musical composition the likes of which has never been heard before.
Ofcourse they are not doing it to ME in particular, how paranoid do you think I am? Well, I guess its just some failure of communication or something.
But the thing is that, yes, the issue in itself is something that bothers me. But I'm still blowing the issue way out of proportion and have a bunch of ridiculous outbursts about it that I didnt think people would take entirely seriously!!
Maybe im making a misstake of mixing seriousness with halfjokes or whatever.
You know what? You shouldnt write anything else in this thread unless you agree with me
It goes without saying that most people wouldnt understand my predicament, and it goes without saying that I seem completely mad!!!! (if you take everything i say seriously)

Let's pull in the reins on this discussion now. While members of course are free to disagree with one another, no one is free to do so in an insulting or otherwise inflammatory manner. Let's keep it civil, or I'll close the thread.
