Point of no Return? (spoiler)

Post by Claudius »

I have read in the guide on the witch in the maze that when you kill her emmindor teleports you away to do battle.

Does this mean if I want to polish my character I should do it before then or can I keep earning adv points after the fight in talendor?

Thanks

Hey Claudius,

IIRC the moonbridge at Talendor won't work after you've defeated Barrowgrim and I never tried to walk out of there to go elsewhere. If you want to level up I would suggest you continue to do it in the maze.

One trick to leveling up, and I would class it as an exploit, is the two slot save game. Using the LAN or multiplayer feature and your single player character. This exploit can only be used after all your quests have been competed and you're just about to enter the maze. This trick can screw up your quests if you try it to early.

Thanks. My guy is pretty strong with good medium magic weaponry, armor in the 80s, parry in the 40s or 50s, high ability scores, 21 arcane, 10 spellfire, 12 scribe.

All I would work on is truly max out the magic skills and also raise heavy armor from 9 to 12 which is a bear for a marauder/wizard. I have deathlord leggings and shoulders.

Can I leave the maze? I never thought about that!! Well I'm going to try it.

leave maze

yes u can go into maze then leave it afterwards

i went and got my winter no dachi from there and then went to go loot chest from normal lands i just bypassed those to give me something to do later on anyways why i lvled for last set of skills.

plus if u teleport from maze to talendor FARGROVE IS LOCKED AND MOON BRIDGES ARE DOWN, BUT THAT STILL GIVES U FIREDRAKE AREA AND MOONDOGGIES FOR XP IF U WANT SOME MORE.

hope that helps

At that point the best place to level is the minotaur procession right after the maze (put the options on the highest spawn level, most difficult setting, and find a defensible possession).

Ugg.. a 9 in Heavy Armor and wearing deathlord leggings and pauldrons? You *do* realize that your spell casting strength is severely stunted because of the (-6) penalty - don't you? (..in fact if it weren't for your high Arcane skill and presumably high intelligence - its likely arcane magic wouldn't work at all ..unless you have the game on "normal" or "easy".)

I'm actually not wearing the Deathlord leggings and pauldrons yet. They are in my inventory. I've been in the vale of ruin which is slightly less xp while fighting but when you run out of blast novas you have easy access to the fargrove inn campfire via moonbridge.

I haven't played recently but my arcane, spellfire, and scribe is getting over 2 million to make higher. He's a pretty good caster. Not 4 LBs but he does have good armor and dual wield in the mix too.

Oh and I didn't know - to armor affected casting. Thats interesting. I usually would accept a small minus to get some armor. Not -6 I guess but a smaller minus.

Ah, well thats a different matter. :o :D

Oh, and it really isn't worth the extra points for the leggings and pauldrons (without a learning bonus).

In fact I had to make this decision recently.. I DID spend the points so that I could wear the belt, gloves, and boots though (its a LOT less than trying for the leggings, pauldrons, and plate).

Could be so. 10 armor is 4 million or so for my character. Your right it might just be better to finish off the game before I move on to a different one.

Of course with 120 blastnovas and high scribe, arcane, spellfire you can kill some serious monsters in a hurry. And about 50 of every type of other arcane spell that I could find excluding cataclysm (7 of those)

overdoing it

hey i like it that way personally.

i would rather have overwhelming firepower then not enough, hehe
with my first charecter i had 100 even crystals of lightning.very nice offensive spell for adepts. 1 mon dies and it will switch to another . nothing gets close. very good for those pesky flyers at end.

have fun
