Help Please... Fighters Guild

i am having some issues with the Harlun's Witch quest. i am in the swampy cave standing over the missing town folk, and my journal refuses to update, i have restarted and cleared the cave 5 times now and it will update my journal when the trolls are all dead but will not acknowledge the missing town folk at all. AM I DOING SOMTHING WRONG OR IS IT JUST GLITCHING BAD?????? so lost..

There's a known bug where if you clear out the cave before you start the quest you can't finish it. If you're on the PC you can use a console code, but even if you're on 360 I've heard you can still progress in the FG without finishing the quest. There have been a couple threads on this topic, try searching the forum for "harluns watch".
