newbie needs a bit of help

been playing goty for sometime now,downloaded all the updates but after about 5hrs i get the big black screen and micro'soft's (we have encountered a problem and are shutting you down) .its annoying to say the least ,caan anyone throw me a crumb, i got plenty of mem and dual core.

It's actually not unusual for Morrowind to do this, even with better systems. The best advice I can offer is to save often, and even close down the game yourself after about two hours.

There are also tweaking guides out there with suggestions on how to increase game stability.

Since I have an older machine, I always turn off my scanners (AV, antispy etc.) before booting up Morrowind. Basically, anything not essential to my computer's functioning gets turned off.

Finally, For the more tech-oriented people here, you might also want to post your complete system specs which may help to diagnose any type of performance issues.
