Dialogue Bug (SPOILERS)

Post by ColdSpiral »

Hopefully someone can help me with this-

Just in case you missed it the first time, this post contains SPOILERS. That's kinda the problem...

And I apologise in advance for my long-windedness.

I've just played through TLC with a character of noble goodness, and, my decent side sated, I've embarked upon a new journey in order to fulfil all those nasty chicken-kickin' urges I'd resisted the last time around.

So, I kicked off a heroic career under the astoundingly original name of 'Evil Joe', who promptly stole a pile of wicked black clothes and some Full-Fist-worthy spiky black boots, grew a sick mohawk, nabbed some sweet inks (and killed the wandering tattooist immediately after, of course. Well, not immediately. Joe shot him in the leg. A few times), and began loitering the (somewhat limited - but that kind of ruins my narrative, so...) lush world that is Albion.

Here's where the horror starts. Despite Joe's reputation and fearful visage, traders and villagers have been telling him things. Bad things. Apparently,

- well, here he was thinking

she was dead
. Not only that, it seems that there is great rejoycing in trader circles, now that

- what with them

being reopened
and all... They tell Joe that

Jack of Blades

dead
and the

sword
has been

thrown into
the

void
- which is a pity, because Joe kinda liked the sound of it. The other things, well, they're all too terrifying to even list.

Of course, Evil Joe is furious. He hasn't even sprouted his first horns and already it seems some righteous git has been running around the place in his oh-so-shiny plate and killing aversaries Joe hadn't even heard of yet - with a glowing sword bigger than Joe himself! For Skorm's sake, the poor lad hasn't even made it to Orchard Farm, much less traded his rusty katana for a nice dark cleaver.

Incidentally, Joe's savegame does state he's been played for 20 hours or so, and I know for sure that Greatwood isn't all that big a place.

Would it be possible that Evil Joe's existence is being affected by the simple fact that his nameless predecessor has not been deleted by the almighty Player?

Any help wold be greatly appreciated...

Hello and welcome to the forums, ColdSpiral. :)

As for your problem, you're not alone. There are quite a number of people here who mentioned this exact same problem in Fable: The Lost Chapters. Not to mention that I also encountered this very same bug too a while back. If I recall correctly, it is due to having more than one profile (it is because both me and my brother were playing on two separate profiles and as a result, this problem occured). Hopefully, by deleting your older profile, I think it should be able to solve the problem.
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

My game is doing that same thing. It never bothered me, as it does not mess up that game it give away things that I already know. In my case however they have never said anything about thing that my good profile did they just tell me to get to this place or that and to go find him or her. As soon as I came out of the gild, they wanted me to rescue the archeologist.
