I've just about finished playing the OC the evil route. Now I've found a key that I don't really know what to do with, or if I'm supposed to do anything at all with it.
I'm currently in ACT III and have just won Khelgar's Clan over as alliance. When I went back to Crossroad Keep, Uncus told me Axle wanted to talk to me, so I headed to the Merchant Quarter, listened to his spiel about wanting me to take care of Moire, and then told him where to shove it and killed him, while my company took care of the guards/hirelings outside the room. Now there are two things that slightly... baffle me.
1. I suddenly have a journal entry saying that I killed Axle for Moire because she offered me a large sum of money for it. I have never talked to Moire about it, nor received the quest to kill Axle, in fact I didn't talk to her at all; I killed him because I wanted to and I'd planned to go after Moire next. Now Axle's dead and everything but the Merchant Quarter is still closed to me. I'm guessing the game assumes that I've talked to Moire ( which I haven't ), or did I miss something?
2. One of the hirelings my company took care of while I fought Axle dropped a key called "Hamme Room Key" ( description: this key opens the "Hamme" room in the Ironfist Clan Stronghold ). I'm assuming it's supposed to mean "Hammer Room" - however, the quest to kill Axle did not become available to me until after I'd already taken care of the business with the Ironfists, so I'm a little confused. I went back to the Ironfist Stronghold and tried the key at every door I could find, but not luck. Anyone know what's up with that?

For me, this was easily the sloppiest sequence in the game. All sorts of things didn't work correctly, and some of the conversations didn't make any sense. Anyway...
1. When Axle asks you to kill Moire, Moire will counter that you should kill Axle. The game is just sloppy for using the same quest completion dialogue for both ways of killing Axle.
2. The "hamme room" key unlocks the door to Axle's inner office. You probably didn't need to use the key because the shadow thieves in the office usually open the door up themselves so they can get to you. The key doesn't have anything to do with the Ironfist Stronghold like its description claims.
