Leeves, spoilage!

Post by Acleacius »

Anyone know how to handle this?
I get this mission before I ever get out of the Keep the first time.
We are asked for help defending the Halfling village of Leeves by the Sheriff.
Due to our increased patrols bandits have started raiding there village.

We can send, Half our men, 1 patrol, a couple or basicly nothing.
I have read in one post also looking for answers that even sending half his men, they all get slaughtered.

I have also read, if lands are at +10 or higher you can win, I believe but how can I be at +10 before I ever get out of the Keep?
Used to it was just that band of adventures for the first task.
This is my first run with 1.03.

Thanks for any tips.

I only got this quest once. At that time I was playing a neutral good Drow fighter, so I chose to send half of the men. My Road and Land Security Levels were pretty high I think(isn't that a requirement for the halfling guy to appear anyway??) as well as weapon, armor, and training of my troops. As far as I remember my troops slaughtered all of the bandits and the village elder rewarded me with his undying gratitude and some gold. Hope this helps you.

So long,
Sol

Thanks, tried to make a good save before that point.
Kana sounded concerned but after listening again, she mainly seems worried about there current duties.
I had everyone recruiting anyway, so unless the quest has the bandits kill half my men (25) which one person seemed to worry about I have no problem them getting plenty of help.

Any idea about how long I need to wait before I get a report, since if the quest is bugged I don't wnat to play too far ahead.
Or is it possible it messures time by how many maps you go to or Main Story state of the game?

Thanks.

It is definatly bugged for me.
I had to start chapter 3 to get an update and Kanna tells me most of the men were wiped out and not sure how long they can last.

I sent 25 men best trained, best weapons and second best armor to handle bandits stealing a couple of pigs and my men are mostly wiped out not expected to hold out, that's total BS!

I had everything maxed out in chapter 2 including Castle (in & out), court yard (no tower or nine yet), roads and lands, nothng left to do on it with progress stuck at 25% until start of chapter 3.

Does anyone know the console code to set the quest to success?

Thanks.

Eidt, here's the post I read having the smae problem.

I'm just into this area to. I'm getting my reports from Kana and the builder very quickly. Usually I walk to see one, then the other is back and gives a report.

I sent one patrol, they got butchered I was informed. Still trying to do recruiting and blew all my money on the outlying buildings, the initial road repair, the initial wall repair and the west wing and library in the keep.

I am wondering if doing the 100k road repair is the activator for the quest.
I am going to try to replay the 6 or so hours again, though I need to play something else for a bit, first.

This game, like G3 has been so damn buggy and broken it's so annoying to get these broken quest after spending so much time in them.

We as gamers should be allowed to kick the publishers who approved the Q&A and final release master, in the shins for each bug we find. :D

That would put an end to this crap! :p

Ok I found what causes the Leeves quest to activate, so it's possible to avoid the bug of getting the quest before you ever have a chance to patrol the roads, which automatically gives you a failure on the quest.

Don't spend any money rebuilding the Fortifications until chapter 3, the first rebuild activates teh quest.
I tested all other rebuilds and they are fine to do, just not Fortifcations.

It is rather ironic the Leeves quest is caused due to increased patrol activity of the roads, iir what the sheriff mentions, even if you never send a patrol out, I had mine on recruiting from the start.

If you immediately put all your men on Road patrol you can get High Security before, chapter 3, (during chapter 2 you can only reach 25% of Keep completion, per Kana's report.) doing this may allow you completion and success of the Leeves quest, though I didn't want to waste another 6 hours playing the 2nd half of chapter 2 to find out, since Leeves completes at the start of chapter 3.

FWIW, I just got to the Leeves mission in my current game. I succeeded by sending half of the original 50 greycloaks (I didn't have any recruits yet), 2 upgrades in weapons, 2 upgrades in armor, best training (but it was only at best at the completion of the mission), and Katriona.

This was with a paladin, which I think gives the greycloaks a morale boost, so maybe evil characters would have a tougher time.

Thanks for that info, when I play again I will see it if helps. :)

I started out as CG and at that point in the game had shifted to NG, so it could be more influenced by training.

I finally was forced to read a Keep, Game walkthrough FAQ that helped enormously.

It turns out afaik, that entering the courtyard moves time forward and since this isn't told to us in the game, I never considered it important.

When I entered the Keep I always had 8 Ore which allowed Good Armor, one upgrade away from Best and Best weapons.
So I would just go in an out of the Tavern since it was closes exit upgraded the weapons and armor first.
This apparently advanced time so much that I missed oppurtunities.

I was eventurally able to slightly out perform the walkthrough, by getting Roads and Lands to Good before the end of chapter 2, though it maybe due to the 1.03 patch.

The only couple of things, I didn't get best of was the Dragon Hord, even though I had very good Lands and good Roads at that point I still only got 170k, with the max possible of 200k, though I did loot the chest instead of letting the Cloaks get everything.

Also I kept myCloaks standards very high until I couldn't Recruit any more, then lowered it to giving Amensty, so we could possibly get more Recurits if the bar was low rom the start but I think it lowers Morale, so I kept it high as possible for as long as possible.
