Is there a "no hat" mod?

Post by Gramp »

I like the bonuses hats give, but I don't like the look. Why spend so much time making your face when you never see it? Is there a mod that gets rid of the hat graphics?

If you don't like the hat, don't wear it. That is the best rule about any fashion. :) Nobody said that you have to wear anything at all.

Anyway, I understand your sentiment and share it. The helms are too good to be ignored but the face you painstackingly construed is all but invisible. But you can see the face practically ONLY while inspecting your inventory. In all other situations you observe the backside of you char unless you use a first person view (as I do) and you don't see even that. Well, you can see the hairdo from behind but it is not something to write home about.

My suggestion: remove the headcover from time to time while looking through your loot, admire your char's features for a few moments, and put the damned helm back on. :D

Figures. They can do a topless mod, and nobody thinks to do this.

Many mmorpg's have this feature (yeah I realize this isn't an mmo). I'm missing it.

You can use a hood. An enchanted hood, naturally :) If you have access to the Arcane University facilities you can enchant it with anything you have spells for: Shield, Nighteye, Detect Life... whatever. And you can see your char's face! :) But not his/her hair.

You can also get an all round view of your character by holding down 3rd person view button (instead of just clicking it) and 'moving round' your char.

Not a fan of helms or hoods either - how about a true "hat" mod? Skullcaps for wizards, jaunty hats for rogues/cavalier types, etc. Just getting the hang of the CS myself & no idea how to do the wireframe/models/whatever, has anybody seen any mods like that?
Can the answer to this question be "No"?

That's a great idea, Belthan. :D
Hats....
wizards with pointy hats with stars on...
assassins HAVE to have a hood...
thieves should wear a trilby tilted to the back of the head or over the eyes, like the old London Spivs...
hm... warriors... I guess a warrior needs a helm...
a bard needs a jester's belled cap...
a battlemage just HAS to have a hooded cloak to wear over the armour, so it can swirl when he raises his arms to cast a spell...

.....
