Need help finding a good hide out! (POSSIBLE SPOILERS)

Post by noriva »

I just started playing morrowind and I wanted to know where I should have my hide out. I am not that strong right now but I want a good place that I can either take or get for free. Can anyone help me with this?

Are you in the Fighter's Guild? If so then do some of those quests and you'll find a house you can take :)

If you're able to handle a few bandits, consider the cave right outside Seyda Neen--or try one of the caves enroute to Pelgiad.

Assuming you're on a PC and have plenty of memory, you could also load in one (or more) of over a hundred house mods. Several of these are located in Seyda Neen or Pelgiad.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Nelos house in Balmora

I usually kill and take Nelos' house in Balmora. There are no guards and you won't be reported if you kill him (even if you take the first hit):mischief:

I think that you have to get inside the house for one of the guild missions anyways. So you can kill two birds with one stone. The house is excellent for marking because it is right in the middle of a major town where you can transport to and sell your loot, it also has a warm feeling to it. :D

If you want to find the house, it is in the rich part of town (Balmora) right in the middle of the other manors. Should be easily located.

Good luck house hunting :)

I used Cassius Place after he left.

You can use it before he leaves, he never bothered my stuff. the stuff I wanted but couldn't carry. I think your fairly along in the main quest by the time he leaves so you may be earlier in the game to take advantage of it.
the smuggler cave in Seyda neen would be good as previously suggested.

I live in the Hlaalo Manor in Balmora. It has a container that lets you put an unlimited amount of stuff in it. The dead guy on the floor is the container by the way. And the good news is you don't have to fight any one, although there is one lady but she is in a room, so she won't bother you.

that's where i live. plenty of space, yet not WAY too big. I've considered taking the manors of some people under-skar in ald'ruhn, but they're just too big. i dont like redoran much anyway. besides, i dont wanna move 2 million gold of armor and weapons and misc stuff all the way from balmora to ald'ruhn. and im not exagerating when i say 2 mil. my calculator told me about 1,900,000 and i've added a full set of daedric since then, so... 2 mil.

spoiler: highlight below to read

Sweet Sugar... :p Once you have cleared out...
Spoiler
the Dren Plantation, it makes a fine place to live and store your gear. However, you need to be reasonably strong to "remove" Mr. Dren and all of his minions. Don't worry, as long as you use Taunt, you'll be fine, several factions want his hide anyway.

I found another great home the other day! Its the stronghold Hlormaren, just west of Balmora, and exactly north of Hla Oad. All the charachters aren't generic so they don't respawn. If you have the indexes to the chambers its like having a mages guild next to you. And if you don't, it isn't that far of a walk. The enemies aren't too tough either, but my charachter is at level 52 so it might be hard for a new guy,but its something to look forward to once you have leveled up. There is alot of storage space and it has its own dome, a top and bottom floor, a basement, and its own sewage system. As well as a kinda secret entrance along the coast. Yeah I love my new home...

There's are two nice little rooms in the Ald-Ruhn Mages Guild. They're simply fursnished, and you don't have to do anything to be a ble to use them. They're on the top floor, and they're both unlocked. The nice thing about them is that while you're traveling around using the mage's guild, you can just stop by Ald-Ruhn and drop off anything you don't want weighing you down.

Or, for a really basic hideout when you are right off the boat...
Talk to the people in Seyda Neen about latest rumours and pursue the stories about.... (highlight)
Spoiler
a missing tax collector
...

There's also a nice little house in Caldera... but you'd have to taunt its owner into attacking you. It's near the mage's guild and has bottles strewn around all over it, the owner is a bit of a drunk. I've often wondered if this was supposed to be part of a quest, because you can find a note in there regarding a sum of gold owing to the pawnbroker across the plaza, but I've never managed to find any links.

When I first started, I killed a resident of a Hlaalu manor in Balmora and used his house as a base.

After that, I moved to the Gorak Manor in Caldera and killed all the orcs there, and set up my base in Creeper's house.

Then I got into modding and used the Nerevarine Castle, but it had some bugs, so I switched to Wolf Manor, which is also a mod.

I have several. There's one called Ghorak Manor in Caldera, a lot of us know about this place, you can kill anyone in there with no consequences. I would advise you not to kill creeper, however if you're interested in buying and selling items for a good price. My personal favorite is the Dren Plantation, just south of vivec. I killed everyone there with the exception of the slaves, and many people there are armed with daedric weapons which are among the best, if you are strong enough to carry them. There's also a lot of money to be made there by looting as well. Since they are under no juristicition, you can kill anyone there without getting attacked by guards in other towns. I don't want to sound presumptous, but if you need a good hide out in the future, just pm me, I know of a lot.
You can always become stronger in Morrowind, but it's never enough. PM me if you know what I'm talking about.

Be careful killing people in Ghorak Manor as one of the inhabitants is needed for a Daedric Shrine quest.

If you don't mind using a shack, there is an abandoned one south-west of Gnaar Mok. It is on a seperate island just a hop and a skip off the shore. It has its own dock too and there are hidden bonuses on the inside, like under the overturned bowl. It's a bit cramped, but away from people, a few cliffracers and mudcrabs though.
