Any reason NOT to kill Vithal?

You have the chance to allow him to leave amiably, but if you kill him you get that real nice "death" helm and some high level spells.

If you let him live are you rewarded at some later point?

Waste him. he's a snot, the whole point of RPG is to kill anyone who annoys you.

You can always pick pocket the items if you feel like it. Killing anyone that annoys you is only roleplaying if you play a character that would in fact kill anyone that annoys him.
