WOW!!!!! help with finger of the mountain spell(poss. spoilers)

O.K. since i just found out about the REST of the fingers of the mountain quest i just know finished it.

Now i got the finger of the mountain spell it does 200 shock damage in 10 ft. but the power or wut ever is 3242 the highest i can do is like 800 or 1000(sum where between there) why is the power so high

(im talking about the column in the spells section with lightning bolt in it)

Yeah we know what you are talking about! What is your level? What is the level of your Destruction skill?
If you get the spell when you are fairly low-level, and if you use a low-level spell to access it at the pillar, then Fingers of the Mountain wil be within your capacity - eventually, anyway - but if you are high-level and used a high-level spell, then you may never be able to use it.

I didn't realise about the power of the spell used to access it until recently, when, for the first time, I used an Apprentice level spell instead of a Novice level one.

Hm. Although... that could be just a fluke.
