Arcane Magic Power

Post by ozambersand »

I would be interested to learn the relationship between a spell's power, your intelligence level and Arcane Magic level.

Other factors influence it of course such as Heraldry, Class and having the Diabolic Spellfire, but is there a gradually decreasing increase as Arcane levels go up or a proportional one. In other words is there a point at which there is no real advantage in taking it that level further?

I do know that increasing it does have an effect early on, for example, I used the Zap spell a lot and noticed that the number of times it struck increased as my Arcane skill increased. I used it a lot on the Fire Drakes (before I found Cataclysm). Early on it dealt an initial blow of 3 then followed up with a couple of 15's and 16's while near the end it was doing 15 to begin with on the Succubus's then following with four or five hits in the 50-60 range. (They were toast!)

Similarly Cataclysm - it was doing 376 hit points with one blast (is that a record??)

I hope it didn't affect the ecology of the world as if it is like a nuclear bomb, the nether world is now a total disaster area! ;) :speech:

Great special effects though! - the sky looked like Guy Fawkes night and the 4th July rolled into one!

I'm with you: I too would like to know the exact mechanics of skill upgrades and how that helps various aspects in %. For instance: Critical strike, how much do chances for it rise any time you upgrade it by 1?...
Also I'm intrested where one is supposed to find the greater celestial and rune spells...

I am not sure, but it is possible that when you have a high level in Rune or Celestial magic (or perhaps belong to a tier/class which specialises in that) then they may be available for sale possibly with Grymlock.

Perhaps they're only on offer then.

I am pretty sure that what stock of Arcane spells that Mage Aleister had available did improve as my levels improved (or maybe that was just because I sold them to him?!)

Nope, it's your class...

As for Aleister: He sells more spells and stuff when you are part of the guild of mages (Having a mage tier class)...
And I think that Grymlock's shop is Neutral, so he sells you the same spells wether you are or aren't in the celestial order...
I don't think that they sell more spells as you level up, at least, I haven't ever notice that happen.
